I would have loved to watch a full match of contrasting styles between the Bulls and the Chiefs without home town touch judges nit picking and effectively destroying the match. These games only come around once a year for 80minutes.
30 Mar 2014, 04:35#8
Not just the refs but the commentators, theyre so biast, you would think the bulls were only playing. And joubert was clearly favoring bulls the whole game, should it be allowed to have a sa ref in a sa nz game? Jouberts a great ref but, their should be nuetral refs. And Assistant ref trying to overturn a decision a ref already made lol, what a joke, you cant decide after a trys awarded five mins later, oh lets go up stairs, only to find out the decision was justified, your a touch judge your job is too hold the flag, geez the past couple of weeks hv really exposed some sa bloggers theory that nz refs are bent, sa refs are just as bent haha.

Now there is an attack on the refs? I did not see the Bulls match - since I was watching cricket. From what i saw and the bent refs interpretation according to kul - I think for NZ supporters to start that kind of comment is not really appropriate. When living in glass houses do not throw stones.
From what i could make out above - Joubert awarded a try and the TV ref said he must have a look at whether the ball was grounded properly. Was the try confirmed or not? If it was confirmed then what is the comment about?
If not - do you advertise that referees do not make mistakes?

"And Assistant ref trying to overturn a decision a ref already made lol, what a joke, you cant decide after a trys awarded five mins later, oh lets go up stairs, only to find out the decision was justified, your a touch judge your job is too hold the flag"
Too right 3kU1.
What about the ABs vs Boks just before the RWC 2011 when the Teacher TMO said the grounding of the ball was fine BUT "do you want to know what happened in the field before the grounding" The right answer is NO as per the RULES and LAW. Seems some people want to rewrite and apply the Laws to suit their Team. I hope he wasn't he Touch Judge yesterday.

Mike, "From what i could make out above - Joubert awarded a try and the TV ref said he must have a look at whether the ball was grounded properly. Was the try confirmed or not? If it was confirmed then what is the comment about?" 20minutes later?????? when the Chiefs Anscombe was lining up to convert the try? and the rest of the Chiefs Team on the plane to their next game???
Embarrassing.

and please don't knock Joubert...it would be most ungrateful.

You kiwi lot is a bunch of hipocrites when it comes to ref-blaming. There is no moral high ground, we all complain about refs, because there are a lot of room for improvement. Ha ha.

Even if we put aside the judgement of the TMO in these games we still have a problem. The TMO and ref are not always following standard protocol. This makes it look like a joke.
Same applies to the assistant refs. These days they get more involved in making calls in areas like the scrum & who was not binding correctly, etc. This is ok by me as the ref cannot see both sides of the scrum. But telling the ref to check the TMO after the ref has made the call for a try & blown his whistle with a raised arm... this again makes the officiating look like a joke.
So, even if we don't question the decisions made in a game we can raise questions when the defined roles & responsibilities are not followed & when there is not compliance with protocol. These help ensure orderly process & consistency, and we all hope fair rulings.
If the way the roles & responsibilities & protocols don't work then the guys that make these rules change them. Not the ref & TMO in a live game. Rules is rules.

Wardad: I watch the games via streaming & have a second laptop so I can chat while watching the game
The living room looks a bit like a geek palace with wires all over the place because one laptop is wired to the TV so I can watch the streaming via the TV screen. The wife knows not to make any comments during games & usually retreats to the bedroom with a good book, lol

too funny JW , thanks for destroying my Team the other week

Denny, Joubert is the best ref in the world. He tried to let the game flow with his no nonsense approach - it is his nitpicking one eyed touch judges and doubleminded hesistant TMOs that I am criticising. I blame the touch judges for slowing the game down enough to let the Bulls back into the game.
Cases in point, the touch judge called Joubert's attention to the Brodie Retallicks clearing of ruck far beyond the fringes of the ruck and the Chiefs get penalised - a few rucks later, the Bulls are doing the same thing YET the touch judges are strangely quiet - Nitpicking I say.
Puny Tikoirotuma illegaly trying to clear massive Matfield off a ruck - it was like watching an ant run into a mountain - Penalty? really? Why don't we hand the Bulls a few penalties to get them back into the game.

oh please so its ok for sa to take thr moral high ground even tho you hv no leg to stand on, it happens to kiwi teams, kiwis are hypocritical right haha. Sa teams have never bn hard done by refs, sure refs make bad calls or the time, but its not one sided. You make your own luck, how refs interpret the letter of the game is purley technicle, you really need to get over this idea its all one sided, so kiwis have no moral high ground, thats crap.

Hakwa: I am doing ok in the head-to-head comp, lol
So far I have had two bad weekends in the Classic league comp. Players like Black Power never seem to have a bad weekend which means it's almost impossible to make up ground. So if I am a little gleeful in knocking off a few players in the head-to-head excuse me, lol

Beeno: It is clear that you have a lot of experience with nail polish but my advice is to keep such proclivities to yourself.
Is this an unintended consequence of a low protein diet, surely there are meds to reverse this?
Well meaning people rushed to the pharmacy in a desperate attempt to help Beeno but he was so far gone....
"If only he was allowed to eat a steak" mumbled the fair-minded kiwi.
