South African players seem to be the main target of French clubs, but also some other countries like Japan and England are increasing their squads with SA players .

As soon as one player retires, they just look for another replacement.

It used to be established stars past their best, or the never will be's.

Now it is the stars of tomorrow that are leaving.

More and more of our young players are being lost which will start to reduce the depth for Springbok level.

The ever weakening Rand Currency is making the offers from France who’s teams seemed to be owned by personal Billionaire venture capitalists, impossible to refuse.

Who is this jauzy19? When ever he makes a posting is to inform us about new SA players leaving for France

It irritates the shit out of me seeing these youngsters leave. I have no issue with the old boys leaving, but its sad when we see so many youngsters leaving.

We have now lost the following youngsters Quinn Roux, CJ Stander, Mjekevu, Etienne Oosthuizen, Carl Wegner, Jandre Marais and JP du Plessis.

Notice how the majority of them come from the Stormers?

its surprises me that the lure of the Bok jersey would not hold these players in SA.

i was always of the opinon that most afrikaans and white saffas were in the well above average when it comes to the financial side of things, but im guessing that i would be wrong???
if financial reasons is why these players are going, then u cant really blame them, as u got to look out for u and urs first, but if they come from familys who are well off, then it is a little odd.

It is shocking that we lose Du Plessis. Man he had a fantastic Currie Cup and looked a better center than JJ.  Next thing Howard and Sweil will be off!! Allende and Du Plessis looked to be our center combo in the near future.

How about adding Nick Koster and Francois Louw to your list snapster.

Then we lose the likes of JJ, Sadie, Whitehead, Cat. Willie Le Roux is from Boland I believe. Morne and Hougaard are from here. Blauw disappears to Scotland and Kritzinger vanishes. Duvenage and Habana are off to Europe and Bekker is off to Japan to join Jaque Fourie. I am sure I have not mentioned everyone who has left.

The Cheetahs are currently doing better than us in keeping talent!!!  FIRE COETZEE and the suits running the show NOW!

As for the disgusting Frogs I am so pissed off that I hope they only beat the abs by 20!!!  What the disgusting frogs dont realise is that by importing all these foreign player they will ultimately stuff up their rugby. When last did England last win a world soccer cup?

saSUE if we are honest for a moment here its difficult to be proud of the current corrupt and racist South Africa. Given the racial discrimiantion against pale males in the work place the idea must be to make your boodle where best you can. The rich are few, as is the case everywhere.  Most folk have to earn a living so yes one has to go where you can earn and that of course is especially true of sportsmen.

That does not stop it being extremely annoying and one also has doubts as to how efficiently the coaches select who they want and also how effectively unions market themsleves and find sponsors.

JP du Plessis is a huge loss to the Stormers - he is so good that he may end up playing for France in future.   That comes from Coetzee playing duds like De Jongh in his team and ignoring Du Plessis and Howard.   I bet you the next two to go will be Howard and De Allende.

I agree with you - fire the moron.

They don't steal them they buy them and stock them up on the sub benches. Same sort of thing the Bulls did before their poaching back fired. Bulls supporters thank your union for acting like a paedo

@Spoooony.  It is clear that you have an issue with the Bulls, because you clearly do not understand what they have been doing all season. They have been manageing and rotating their players very wisely. They have not been plagued by injuries like some of the other franchises and they did not need to go into a flat spin and a panic whenever they had injuries. They alsways had somebody slipping in seamlessly.

@Sasuke. Don't believe everything that you read in the media. Espacially not political hoohah. Then you would know that the impression of white Afrikaans Saffers is BS.

Sasue

Poverty is indeed an issue in the White community beyond what you read in the newspapers.   Let me explain - I have two destitute White people staing free of charge in my house and I provide them with food, electricity, water  and even television facilities free of chargee.   The one person does cooking for me and the other one is responsible for gardening.   There are large numbers of people in the White Community without housing - they live in shacks in the same areas as the balck shackdwellers do.

However, in general the rugby players of repute are not in the same situation.   They are financially quite well off and some of them are really wealthy and from wealthy families.   I think the problem here has to do with the utilization of players - especially on higher levels of rugby.   Let me explain.  CJ Stander left the Bulls because he was selected to play very rarely on Super 15 level.   JP du Plessis was never used by the Stormers - despite being very talented and the WP backline functioned five times better when he was playing than when De Jongh was - and the same applies to Quin Roux.  Like all professionals the rugby players must make hay while the sun is shining - they cannot sit under-employed in SA waiting for miracles.

That I believe is the issue here.    I think the SA coaches are goats and Meyer in particular is the leading goat.   They must select players on ability and performance - not on there present system of favourtism - then the problem of departure by players can be reduced.

I am not talking here of the older players in the later years of their careers.   It is a fact that they go over and come back wit more money than they can use for the rest of their lives - we call it pension accummulation.   The reason is further that COL here is relatively cheaper than the exchange rate indicates.  The latter is also an interesting issue - that is why the Charles Spencers of the world lives in places like Cape Town.    If a player makes say $1 500 000 per annum for two years - he has about R25 000 000 in the bank and that would give him an income in the millions locally for the rest of his life.       .

The allure of money that can set you up for life, a chance to live abroad at a young age and play high level rugby is just too great. No amount of player management or contract concessions would be able to overcome that for many of these players.

With the Boks choosing overseas players, there isn't even the allure of the Springbok jersey to keep them home. If any of these young guns show promise to be world beaters they will be wooed and considered for selection by the Boks. In many ways there are positives here for the Boks in general in that their young players get exposure and gametime so that their true potential can be known. Most of these kids indicate that they plan on returning to SA in the future. To me, the only threat here to the Boks is if they are convinced to switch nationalities and there is bound to be some of that although it won't happen to the best of them as they will be targeted by the Boks.

Even with this attrition SA rugby has the depth to still field potent domestic teams. Who this really hurts is the NH teams as our players are taking roster spots that should be used for the development of their own domestic players.

@Ceradyne

No I do not have a problem with the Bulls. I have a problem with them using their goverment funds and Lottery money, which they received the most of btw, and instead of pumpiong it into development in the region they poach and leech of other unions. Bloodsuckers they are.

Because they are paying these youngsters buckets load of moeny to go to crappy Pretoria none of them want to take a pay cut and will be sold of to some oversea clubs/

WP have hundreds of schools and a WP academy which they used for development. So they do not have the money to compete with the Bulls who is basically commiting fraud and not using the money for its intended purposes. The 150 maulings of Limpopo pretty much tells you what is happening with development in that region.

Bulls are sitting on their arses and pick off other provinces training and development which those provinces paid for. For Blue Bulls and their supporters It is that ignorance and inability to look outside the gates of Loftus that has made me really not care for them.

And if you think I am talking crap about the funds and where they rip their players from

Spoony thanks for the link.

Any Kiwi, Oz or foreigner here please take a look and you will see the racist agenda set right before you.  Everything is seen through a racist view. Essentially the team must refelct the deographics and they will not be satisfied until it does. How many blacks play rugby or want to play rugby is not a consideration. Neither is their aptitude for the game etc etc. Essentially its not merit they are after but skin colour. Hence the appointment of ou pdv -openly admitted by Hoskins.

Anyone thinking race  based selections do not take place these days has his head in the sand. Hence one has to be careful perhaps re criting coaches on selections of a guy like Loubcher - Bok backline coach, or De jongh or whatever.

It adds a very unfortunate dimension. With a white player one says its just a bad selection. With a poor black player one wonders if its simply a bad selection or a quota issue. All this is disasterous for cordial race relations and effectiveness. Simply make merit your guide and the results will be better all round.

in terms of the blatant race baiting that is being done in the name of demograhic selections...the race based selections are meant to create divide rather than create unity. that is the main purpose of it. AA has never worked anywere in the world

in terms of the french stealing our players....the biggest talker is money. players are treated well and the money is so massive that the type of players that are leaving our shores are getting younger and younger....as there is economic hardships ext players are more often than not forced to make these type of choices
