I am sorry Saffex - it is nor prejudice. If you look objectively at the recent games played by Engelbrecht as well as the performances by Hougaard and Jantjies - you must certainly realize that they do justify criticism from a performnce perspective.
Engelbrecht was very poor - but Hougaard really buggered up badly especially with the charge down kicks - Jantjies was plain mediocre.
The incidents I referred to are the following:-
* Engelbrecht knocked on virtually the only two balls passed to him during the whole match - and there were incidences where his defence was not up to standard.
* Hougaard was on for about 30 minutes. During that time he tried to break around a maul - moved about 5 meters and was robbed of the ball by Reinach. He also tried two rellieving kikcs - virtually from the same spot - both were charged down. Just not good enough. By the way his passing was quicker -and accurate - but for one pass where the ball rolled on the ground before reaching the recipient. I would say all in all a bad performance. May be the result of lack of game time as a scrummie - but definitely sub-par.
* Jantjies remains a liability for any team he plays in and he was particularly ineffective on Saturday. That tackle by Aplon - where he tried to kick the ball with Aplon about to tackle him - he effecively dropped the ball before the tackle - was pathtic and it was only due to Armand.s selfishness that WP did not score a try as a direct result. He constantly tried to make inside passes - which led to nothing and the one of the 3 times he did try and attack the gain line - in the first case he succesfully passed to an inside player - but i still led to nothing and could easily be described as a hospital pass - the second pass was wild and could not be gathered by the recipient and in the first case Stranski said he attacked - but with no conviction. After the Aplon tackle he appears to be rattled and missed three kicks at goal/ Mdiocre is the less critical way to rate his performance. He also on a number of occassions made totally ineffective kicks. I must correct something though - hedid not make that direct out kick - that preceded the last WP try - it was Taute who buggered up.
Remember I do support your contention about Taute - he has potential to develop further - the other three are just not Springbok material and whether they can develop furher is really questionable. A small chance of that in the case of Engelbrecht and Hougaard - a zero chance in respect of Jantjies.
