The Jean Injustice

There were many comments made at the start of the year about Jean being too old. We needed fresh blood, like Serfontein. Watching the man play next to the boy last Saturday, I wonder who would have changed their minds.

For the record Jean ended the RC with the most defenders beaten of any player in the tournament and the second most breaks. He had the NZ coach applauding his captaincy....his handling of the roster incident was smart ( nobody was going to rely on a typo to decide a rugby trophy) and right in the spirit of the game. He stands with his great early contemporaries, Mortlock, Umaga and O Driscoll as mega centres and leaders in the game.

Bloody well done Jean.

 Top player is Jean. Not flashy but gives it 100% and can be totally depended on.

A lot like Conrad Smith.

It’s not as if Jean has maintained this standard of play over the last few seasons.

By giving him the captaincy I believe it sparked a change of attitude and brought out the best in him. He was given a second shot to prove himself and came through the challenge with flying colours … and then some.

I don’t think he ever felt threatened by Serfontein. I think what made him up his game is the rumours of him only being cpt for the first season. A Temp so to speak.

He deserves our applause. He’s put in the hard work and shown himself as the best inside center on the planet.

As expected ... it took this thread to have Stoopid change his mind. We've been watching Jean's scintillating play week after week this whole season and in fact saw snippets of his magic last season already ...sometimes I honestly think one has to hit the damn fool with a brick to wake him up.
