The French rugby is something that my nature enjoys. I love the adventure of mystery and unexpected results. I’m bored with repetition of the obvious. Some people can only live with this. But challenge and the uncertainty always get me going. I was cursed by having a drop or two of French blood. My grandmother was born in France immigrated to SA. Me granddaddy did the same from Eireland. What a mixture….the blind leading the blind…but both adventurous. Unlike the Pommy who is always in conflict with the extraordinary who loves his fish and clips or bangers and mash…I prefer exotic and creative food with daring flavours…the mundane I can stomach occasionally if it’s just a requirement to fill an innate need. NZers have never understood the French…there style of rugby at times most needed fails them in a WC, except 2011 where it was in their own country and ref decisions (dare I say it) were programmed to give the hosts a victory…even if it was by one point…the simple successful conversion or penalty or drop goal by Trinn Duc might have made them “the best in the world”. We cling to results as indicators of positioning of ability but stats are often delusion …the argument is that’s the only measure of judgement. I would love the French to win at least once in NZ…will keep the AB’s in place...ready for the clinical Bok kill when their ego's are correctly adjusted. I have no doubt that NZ plays the best rugby consistently but they come unstuck when there’s that element of the unknown. Unlike SA, Oz, the French who cannot be read or predicted. That’s why I luv ‘em. Go Les Bleus …contradict the common herd!
