The Message Board Discussions

I really get more disspirited every time I opened a message and see the same drivel - accusations of lieing and beng idiotic and being foolish and worse have become the stock in trade on this Board,

What is going on here - are we deadly enemies of each other purely because we difference of opinion?   Can we at least not show some decency in discussion and be respectful to each other?   Really - I always thought that any debate where people resort to personal attacks and insults implies that they lack facts to support their arguments.

I want to make one more plea - can we not use this as a rugby discussion site and leace the issue of politics, religion and other non-rugby-related issues out of it and stop using the insulting terms in which we address each other.   Can we not express opinions about rugby without being acrimonious and without the personal attacks?

It is really no pleasure to open this Boiard and see that there is only a few rugby-related message and that 80% of the messages comprise only insults and more insults.   I have been thinking that really it is not worthwhile to continue in this vein at all.

There is one thing I can say about the majority of the New Zealand members - you can differ from them and they do not become nasty and insulting - and the issues they raise are rugby-related and far above the level of decency so many members have apparently abandoned.       

Mike if you think this Board is going to be different, that opportunity disappeared when Jalapeno/Rooinek arrived. This guy's style is to irritate, insult and sneer at other posters. He will pick a few targets, one of them unfortunately is you. Not that you have done anything to him, you simply are a target he likes. I am too.

Along with RooiAAS comes a new toady role for Dave. He will play second cudgel very willingly.

No amount of friendliness or cooperation will deflect these chaps from their mission of intimidation. You can either leave the Board, ignore the insults or better yet, give as good as you get.

I have found over the years they always overplay their hands.....Sapp's laughable attempt to dupe the Board with me as a participant, or Rooinek's attack on Lambie's guts. Inherently, beyond Sapp's endless streams of unproven youngsters and Rooinek's vitriol, they don't have much to say.

Don't try to rationalise with these chaps. The Old Law applies....an eye for an eye.

No I wouldn't say. I did that after being accused of being a fake for years by your good buddy Rooinek. Well moz's pad certainly shut him up. Game over and only you seem obsessed by the incident. I could care less about possessions or professions, I rate guys here according to their rugby instincts and their collegiality.

I got frustrated with what was going on on the Board and ultimately fell into the same trap.   On reflection - what I said was wrong and I am grown up enough to admit that.   In thinking about the whole scenario last night - I decided to write what I did - and simultaneously should have added an apology for those cases where I fell into the trap myself.   I did not do that - and now wants to complete the process by apollogizing and I hope I would not get caught up again by the pettiness of some other posters. 

It takes two to tango and both sides are at fault with Beeno alone being squeaky clean!

I dont think Mike its the topic that counts rather its the way a matter is discussed. A difference of two inches can cause huge flak if handled in a certain way.

So its not the subject, be its politics or religion etc, its the way things are handled. Essentially a question of goodwill and a breakdown of that for sundry reasons.

Of course its now more than differences in opinion its about lying. Now the question is will devouring one another be the answer? Will we all benefit from that going that route. Will the board be a better place for.  

To me I am all for some banter and digs etc etc and am not looking for a sanitised board but I think it unfortunate when things become bitter. So Mike asks an important question. Are we deadly enemies seeking only to see the opponent leave here and until that happens run a campagin to effect that end.

Moz mentions an eye for an eye. Well a better principle is the extension of some grace. Generosity of spirit is a great thing.

Mike also, if you want to stir (And you have admited you do like t ostir  bit) and also want to and use a few juicy jibes (hard to resist at times I am the first to admit) then you have to be able to take the inevitable responses. Its no use thereafter bleating about others when you are part of the game. And thats the point why take cyber jibes etc too seriously. 

We have a great board here but lets all try to avoid tipping into bitterness whatever the provocation.

Ou Maaik, I think I will be magnanimous and I'll accept your grovelling apology this time . . . but please also note that if you're upset by people calling each other liars, you should take that particular issue up with Moffie.

Mike you were having some fun with those jibes as do others. Only dont make the mistake of taking it seriously.

It is hot outside and the humidity is high - so we need to bear in mind that it is not necessary to get hot around the collar on the Board as well.   A dip in my pool at home can solve the first - I just had one and feel much cooler now - bruised egos cannot be solved as easily.

Good idea re the pool Mike. Yes I miss Card also. He is a bright young guy and always gave a number of insightful comments . Cant say I always agreed with his assesments but is was a challenge to prove him wrong!  So yes miss him very much. 

So I was pandering to some halfwit I had never met in my life at the time or if I had it was a brief meeting. Wow you really do have a high opinion of yourself. Fact is when you slapped your possessions all over that messageboard, you were met with the disdain you deserved.

I certainly don't have a problem with Mike, but I do think it a little rich to make accusations of uncalled for comments about others when all I see from him are very unpleasant comments about " Poms " ! Sometimes I really do wonder about how hypocrisy is measured by some people !!

Mike, thank you for responding and I do appreciate that sentiment.

 Are you sure it was Mike that made the comments? I can't recall it and it seems a bit out of character. I know we all can be a bit insensitive to others from time, but Mike does not strike me as the abusive type.

Just to make a very necessary correction. These halfwits were, day in and day out, calling Moz a lair re anything he said. He was not boasting about anything, he just mentioned the odd thing from time to time. If, for example, he mentioned a car he owned (cars as a subject having arisen) they called him a liar. So Moz would show them a picture.  However the green eyed monster became more aroused and the insults flew thck and fast. Moffie was a liar squeaked rooitwit day by day. On and on it went. Eventually Moz gave them the proof that he was exactly who he said he was.

Beenkop, we know you are a halfwit, but a lying halfwit is a bit much to stomach. Could you get any further up Moffies arse?

In summary in spite of accusations of half truths and lies. Here are the facts. Rooinek called me a liar  about my life, for years. Not months or days. I finally posted a picture of my home with a sign saying moz's pad in front.

I think Beenkop's lowest point came when he was expelled from the SS site and cried foul for months thereafter. The banished trio of Beenkop, Moffie and the attractive Denise made for compelling reading when they strove to all lengths to gain a reprieve - Beenkop offered a brain transplant, Moffie volunteered a 3D shot of his house and Denise threw in a promised facelift!!

So you think anybody who left that Board is under some sort of cloud?

So are you saying I have always been in favour of you slapping your house on a messageboard or that it has only suddenly become offensive to me?

On the contrary, I left the Board and said why and then in a petty vindictive act Hawkeye banned me. Locking the gates after the horse had left the barn comes to mind. And I never once asked to be let back, in spite Barlee writing to me asking how I would improve things.

Would this be the facts according to Moffie - are you asking me to believe them then - I'm sure the SS board would concur with your version!!

I'm sure their version would have a different slant, but that's how I see things. Many on that Board came over here to crow about how weak this Board was, which suggests there were some hard feelings. Fortunately with denny's help we just continued to build and now have a healthy , diverse Board with many overseas participants. Hell, since you and Rooinek came out of the closet we even have that minority group covered.

Ah of course the other board would have a different slant, I just wonder why that is? Would that be another case of your word against a multitude.

So how did it all happen Fat Dave? A year ago this place had a "Rucking Flanker" tab that nobody even knew was a forum.  Denny, Beeno, the Aristo and I came over here and the result is a vibrant Board. I take no credit, but I do give credit to Denny who found many of our overseas members. Later guys like Mike and yourself came on Board and many new chaps. The Board owes a lot to denny.
