I never get decisions like this. The Bulls touring squad excluded Frans Venter originally and included Jan Serfontein. Olivier gets injured, Venter joins the squad and gets promoted to the starting 15, with Jan remaining on the bench.

What message does this send to Serfontein? Dont get me wrong, I really rate Venter, but why not include him in the squad originally?

My guess is that the Bulls want to ease Jan into S15 rugby but thats bullshit, show faith in the lad and let him get on with it. Give him the freedom to express himself and reassure him that he will not be executed if he fails to make an impression straight away.

This just smacks of Bulls conservatism

Saffex

Am with you on this one.  In the last three games of the Bulls Arno Botha was their best loosie on the park.  Now suddenly he is out of the squad completely.  What a load of bullshit that represents.

I was hoping to see Jan Serfonetin playing in Super `15 - since I think the 12 position in the Springbok team is wide open and he could be a candidate.   However, it is not to be and I think for one it is inexpliccble - since Venter is not really all that good.

Mike you are wrong about Venter, he is a good player, but there is no denying the fact that Serfontein has the X factor and should be starting.

I'm guessing Ludeke had always planned to rest the likes of Botha and a few more and some of the selections are a rotation/squad thing.

Good to see Jeandre Kruger and Wepner out of the side, although Grant Hattingh is not a lock, he is a flanker, so Ludeke has stuffed that one up.

Given how average Kirchner has been, why did he not start Visser at 15?
