I cannot think that there is anybody that pricewise can get near to Earl Silky Hands Jantjies.   There are rumours about the actual amount involved - but it is somwhere in the R3 000 000 range,  That is about R400 000 a month.

To the Stormers he is not worth 400 000 cents a month - evn that would be an overpayment.

I am seriously wondering - is he the most expensive flop worldwide.  Good question,

He is a disaster....but not even close to the worst destructive trade made by the Stormers. This is the Stormers S15 log record since 04:

04....3

05....9

06....11

07...10

08...5

09....10

10....2

11....2

12.....1

So what happened between 2005 and 2009 you might ask? Well Luke Watson joined the Stormers and destroyed the team. He killed morale by creating two factions and killed the pattern of play by becoming an extra scrumhalf link in every move.

Jantjies doesn't even come close. But there is no doubt the combination of Jantjies and Taute represents another disastrous trade for the Stormers. I was dismayed from the moment I first heard about it.

 Gary Van Asswegen of all people replaced him shortly after halftime. If Jantjies had not made the team Timo Swiel wouild be on the bench. Rather get Swiel on the pitch before we lose him to an international club

Actually I had no issue with Jantjies game at all. He was solid......went off with an ankle injury. Your post is the biggest load of shit I have read in ages. Jantjies had a solid game

Am really not surprised about the "Jantjies had a solid game" comment.  He wa anything but solid and was in fact poor.    His performances varies from disastrously poor in two games, poor in tow games and average in one.   Not aceptable at all.

He is a very expensive flop as a flyhalf and the best thing the Stormers can do is buy him a one-way ticket back to Johannesburg

The list is long - but lets start with -

*   standing too deep in the pocket to launch effective attacks;

*   hospital passes

*   aimless kicking

*   poor  defence in the channel

*   karate tackle on Strauss - the latter he got away with - potentially a red card offence.

DomMike, this is your standard load of shit.

Standing too deep in the pocket what crap - were Jantjies stands will be dictated to by Fleck the backs coach.

He never sent a single hospital pass, his kicking wasgood and he never missed a single tackle - you are just lying.

That karate tackle as you call it was funny - and yes it was wrong, that's one negative for the game - big deal.

Jantjies had a solid game

One question please.   Could the Stormers have done worse than they did in Super 15 this year thus far?  I know they won 2 games and lost everything else and I suppose they could have lost thos two games also.

Don't you think that a flyhalf has an important role to play in team performances - epecially since a player in that position is normally described as a pivot and link between the forwards and the rest of the backline players?

Lastly - we know rugby is a team game - but don't you think that a disfunctional key player destroy the diference between winning and losing of games?

Jantjies atrocious goal kicks in the first game was a key reason for losing of the game against the Bulls..   His ridiculous faults in the Crusaders game cost the Stormers dearly in that game and was possibly the main reason for the loss of that game as well.  That karate tackle cost the Stormers three points - ie the loss of that game as well.

All the above was enough to tip the scale in favour of the opposing teams.   All represent stupidity and lack of ball handling capacity that could have been avoided if he was any good.

There is one consolation though.  The dolt is injured and he would not be able too assist the Sharks to win the game on Saturday - what bad news for the Sharks

 Sorry mike.

got to go with safesex here.

you are very over the top in your estimation on jantjies.

he has made a few blinding errors from time to time, and has missed some tackles and kicks, but his general game play is far from poor.

he creates a lot for his outside back.him lying deep is most certainly a tactic from Coetzee. Wen jantjies was at the lions, he used to lie so flat at times... Sometimes too flat. So that is definitely a coaching request.

DomMike, the problem is, is that your take on Jantjies is complete bullshit. We know he is a great kicker, so pointing fingers at him over one poor kicking performance is childish. Jantjies for th rest, has been solid this season, showing at times his trademark touches which have set up tries. He has been targeted in his channel, but for the most has stood firm. He has had one poor game, where he got charged down and dropped the ball twice - once being the result of a crap pass from Duvenhage. Jantjies has been fine this season and needed to be given time to settle in his new side.....much like Taute and Mapoe with the Bulls and Franco v/d Merwe with the Sharks, hell we can even say the same with Frans with the Sharks and Paul Willemse with the Bulls......it takes time to settle in a new side.

Chippo

Let me be quite objective and unbisaed here.   I know I am hyper-critical of Jantjies and will try and be more even-handed when dealing with the issue.

Jantjies is an enigma - he can be brilliant and five minutes later be atrocious.  In the game against the Crusaders he gave two briliant passes and ten minutes later he ran with the ball straight into two defenders witjut any back up players near him - hanging on to the ball and give away a penalty.  His unpreditaility and his consequential mistakes has a serious impact of player moral in the team.

The othrproblem with jantjies is he is not a strong defender in the channel and too many times he is brusghed aside by opposing forwards.

I do not blame Coetzee for his stading deep in the pocket.   It does happen that he stands flat - but he normally in previous years stood way to deep in the channel.

I think I should quote what Sasue said elsewhere about Jantjies:-

"|janties poor 2013 showing to date would warrant him not playing against the sharks, but i hope the stormers get a sports psychologist to help him with his game. janties problem now is aserious lack of confidence and if they can get on top of that, it will go a long way to helping janties regain some of that fantastic form he had back in 2011 "

I really believe Sasue is correct in what he said in this case.
