For those delusional folk who believe great strides have been made this year, this article might help. A strong argument is made that the North has the edge going into the WC year.

This is what I said a few months ago. I posted stats on Ireland's record against the RC sides. I'll post it again here:

Here are some interesting stats. Since 24.11.2012 until last weekend, Ireland have achieved a 65% win record against the SH sides. One game includes Samoa during that span, in 2013.

Rugby Championship Opponents

  1. Argentina: 4-1-0  (80%)
  2. Australia: 4-2-0  (66.7%)
  3. South Africa: 3-2-0  (60%)
  4. New Zealand: 2-2-0  (50%)
Since November 2004 Ireland have 6 wins and 4 losses against the Boks. 60%.
Since the 2011 World Cup, Ireland have 5 wins and 2 losses against Australia. 71%.

Wales now have a 4 test winning streak against the Boks, having won 5 of the past 6 tests. England have won the last 2. We are losing ground to the NH. I'd say the SH is slipping.
