The players from 2007 still in contention

There are very few players from that final that is still in real contention for selection this year.   Because of sufficient rugby DSTV has shown the full game a number of times and I made a study of the players from then that is still in contention for selection this year.

One of the players I followed closely in the 2007 final was Francois Steyn.   In looking at him the most obvious flaw was the missed tackle on Tait - that could have led to a try by the English.   However, that was not the only missed tackle that day - he missed at least three other tackles in  the second half.  

Now fast forward to 2013 when he played in Super 15 and missed a lot of tackles in that competition as well.    That raises another question - has Steyn got a problem in defence that he never really overca me playing at center?    It may well be the case.

Terrible - his missed tackle ratio was 24% - in the Brumbies game aloe he missed four crucial tackles.   That was initially one of the reasons why he was replaced.   He was overweight (fat)  and not match fit in any event.

Not to worry - I have the aircon on full go and it is still bloody awful.   If any player  does not perform he is not needed in any team.   Jordaan will have to pull up his socks or go farming - his father is apparently a very wealthy farmer from the Eastern Cape.

However - he is a very talented player that under-performed last year an I am going to watch our for him in  Super 15 this year.     

In expectation of that I am going to change my avatar.   I have other outstanding sportsmen on computer and depending on the games to be played or tournaments going on - I will use different avatars in future indicating players/ sportsmen  I support.
