Lets be frank taking into account the overall performfamnces thus far this EOYT and the preceding RC - the following players should not be in the Springbok squad:-


Backline Players 


Morne Steyn

JP Pietersen


Pietersen lost pace and is a really dubious prerfpormer at this stage.  Poor follow-up when Goosen made that very good line break and Pietersen was far too slow to keep pace.  


Forwards


Gurthro Steenkamp

Bakkies Botha

Victor Matfield


Gurthro scrumming is a serious mess.   Bakkies Botha specializes in doing as little as possible.  Victor Matfield has a jinx - have a line out near the Springboks tryline and he will bugger it up _have one near the opposition tryline and he will do the same.   He is owned by the opposition players and is gruntless and gutless.

I could type up a list of reasons why he doesn't belong with the Bok's but I'll keep it short, Meyer needs to put aside his friendship with Matfield .

Jannie had some gacceptable moments in scrumming - but was on the whole barely average.   I agree with you - he is a borderline case.  Jean had a reasonable gae today and Burger had some moments on the field of play - - so also borderline cases.

 ...not so clever mike bad news mate, Tim Nanai Williams has signed up for Samoa linking up with  Alapeti Leiua to give the Samoan backline some real potency...two of the most underrated players in world rugby and set to run circles around you at the RWC..don't say I didn't warn you mate..

 Matfield's stats

Matfield loitered around in the backline and buggered up at least one good backline attacking move.  He gave away two penalties - both when he tried to carry balls in traffic and went straight down when tackled and hung unto the ball.
Lost possession of the ball and did hang back on one occassion when Willie psassed the ball to him and because he chickened out the ball went to ground.   That is the reason for the gutless statement.   What an oxymoron that wone is.
