Willie confirmed that he is a class 15, not that confirmation was ever needed........I have said all along he is better suited to 15, but equally at home on the wing. At 15 he has more opportunities to counter and slot in at 10 on attack as he does so well. He is more involved at 15, has x factor and you want x factor involved.

JP showed that he was only a little rusty last week and that he is back to his best. Having only recently turned 27, we could have expected that......he has a good 3 years in him yet.

Flip has settled into a handy test player, something I always maintained he would be........we should have invested in him straight after the departure of Bakkies and Matfield, instead of wasting time with Juandre Kruger.

Marcel Coetzee has come of age physically.............man the lad is built like a brick shithouse these days, good on him for muscling up and adding strength to his bow. Had a very good game today, made an impression physically and has a massive work rate. He, like Arno Botha are at that inbetween size.......too big for a 6, too small for 7 and probably spot on as an 8, but dont really play 8, although both played there in the junior ranks. To compete at the highest level something had to give.......both needed to add bulk and both have delivered in this regard........no reason why these two cant play the Messam role, both must be closer to 110kg these days.

Coenie had a good extended run today and looked very good at tighthead alongside Bismark and the Beast. They dominated the Scottish scrum and it will have given Coenie plenty of confidence in his quest to convert to tighthead. It was good for Bok rugby.

Lambie showed some good touches and varied things nicely......had a more than solid outing in the rain. We need to invest in Lambie at 10, along with Goosen. Move on from the plodder

Now if only we had no negatives.........but in short.........Fourie, Bakkies and Steenkamp.........there is just no need for these 3, they were done and should have remained as such

Agreee with you re the above.   Some of the regular posters would disagree and do their standard praise singing about how Meyer restored the harmony by his team selection and start shouting about the three players would be delayed to allow us to have our memories to fade a bit - before the lies  will pour out like lava from their mouths.

 Cleancut

Come now - I am with you on Engelbreeht and most other players - but am differing from you on Fourie and Alberts.   Two differences and you throw the toys out of the cot?   So name calling is not the answer.

Have you never saw how Saffex and I went for each other in the recent past?   When I support his comments - there are still points of difference.   My reservations about Engelbrecht remains - but I have as many reservations about Fourie - so who is the lesser of the evils?  I frankly do not know - neither of the two is really the answer at 13, but they are the only two in the squad.   As far as I am concerned I do not mind which of the two is selected by Meyer - neither really are the best 13's we should strive for.

Listen Dumber ... from where I'm sitting it sure looks to me as though you have Stupid's dick in your hand ... so why deny it ...

Besides ... I really don't care who you buddy up with. You guys speak the same language any way, so I guess your pretty well suited ... maybe it's best you just pucker up and get it done with.

Jaque is a temporary fix at 13. He is VASTLY superior to JJ. That is why I support him.

Guys like De Allende, Serfontein, Howard and Hanekom are the boys to look toward.

Mike, this coming from the prick who selected Pat Howard as his Bok outside centre, Volmink as his wing, Boshoff at his 10, Kockott as his 9, Mellett at his 1, Marcel v/d Merwe as his 3, Minnie as his 6 and Jacques Engelbrecht as his 8...........I kid you not.

And this prick thinks he is in a position to comment on rugby??????

It is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to take anything he says about rugby seriously. Has to be the worst rugby contributor I have ever come across.

My mother has more rugby knowledge than this ignorant twat

Yes Saffex.. I agree..CleanCut must be a serious fool to select that team..I mean, how can those guys ever compete with your team consisting of a half baked scrummie in Hougaard, Jantjies at 10. Rhule and Sergeal Petersen on the wings with Mnisi and JJ at centre. Hell, at least Willie made the cut but then again you would probably want Serfontein at 15 now with your theory of, "get the best players on the field!"

boklogic

The tempo on the site is going down with the much fewer matches to discuss - and consequently the tempers are rising.   Normal trend through to February before Super 15.

Saffex have so many "teams" that one wonders about it.  He changes from week to week depending on whether a player puts up a half-decent performance the relevant week   I have lost count of his "favourites"  - he just adds more and more to them - never remove any - so soon we will have a Saffex favourite squad comprising 100 Under 25 players - who should be selected.

He never sees any deficiencies in his favourite players and you can be sure that top of his list remains unchanged.   He was not all that keen on Willie le Roux - but that has now changed.   He said Francois Steyn is too slow to be a full back - he now has to find a place for him - so move Le Roux elsewhere - so get rid of Habana.  De Villiers is under constant attack by Saffex - so replace him with Serfontein.  And so on and so on.  I can write a book about his team selections.

There are quite a number of cases where I disagree with Saffex - and even some where I agree with him.   Sometime last year in September I wrote a very scating report on Engelbrecht after the WP-Bulls game at Newlands about Engelbrecht's defence and since then had serious reservations  about that aspect of his  game.    I would defend Engelbrecht if I think attacks on him was unfair, but never view him as a best option for the future - unless he ups his performances in Super 15.

Where I do agree with him is about Morne Steyn.  I have always since the JWC in Argentina - where Morne buggered up badly and almost cost us the trophy -  have had reservations about him - and have  never really seen anything to change my mind.  I do not rate him as a decent pivot on international level.

And I do not agree with thee accolades of Bakkies Botha after the Scotland game.   I watched him carefully and his contribution was low key at best.

Now you have enough  to respond nicely

Dave, I am sure you have used that exact line to another poster. "do you think that by lying that you somehow gain some credibility......"

Maybe we are all lying and you are the man?? Haha your'e a cake brother.

Mike, spot on about your assessment of the fat man. Agree with you re. Morne Steyn. He is not a great all round flyhalf but I dont think we have any that can control a game better right now. Lambie has to date, not taken that step up that we all are hoping he would. He blows way too hot and cold. At least Morne is more consistent and controls the game better. His defence is useless and for this reason, our stocks at 10 are not as grand as some people think. If we look at NZL, they have Carter, Cruden, Barrett, Taylor, Sopoaga, Anscombe, Bleyendaal and even Tim Bateman who are better than any flyhalf we currently have simply because they are attack minded players.

I feel we will have to see how Goosen goes unless Lambie can take this step up and soon!

But Dave about Flip Flop, just two weeks ago you were fuming at his selection against Wales. Now you "always maintained he would be a handy test player". To me it seems like you are talking out of both sides of your mouth. Isn't it closer to the truth to say you totally lost faith in Flip just as he was mastering his trade?
To me you look like the guy who buys a stock, rides it all the way down and t hen sells the day before it takes off to the positive. It must be a bad feeling.

No Moz you were not paying attention......I said it made no sense that Flip was moved to 5 given he is the least athletic of Etzebeth and Steph du Toit. Of the three, Etzebeth or PSDT are the ones to move to 5.

At no point have I had an issue with Flip and he is playing the rugby of his life. Fact is he has always been good and you have always got it wrong when it comes to him, much like you do with most players.

Just because I rate Flip, does not mean I prefer him to Etzebeth or PSDT......they have been my first choices for a while now, so given the options, these two would have started all 3 tests this tour, with Flip on the bench.

However, if I was selecting the squad, Lood de Jager would be my bench lock as he is better than Flip. Hope this helps and it has stuff all to do with talking out of any side of my mouth

Just a question.   When the issue of the future usage of Francois Steyn was discussed - I believe during Super 15 in March this year - and the possibility of moving him to full back was memtioned - I can clearly remember that your comment on the issue was that Steyn is not speedy enough to play at full back.  What made you change your mind on that score?

Goosen passed Jantjies as my first choice 10 as soon as he started playing 1st class rugby......its called insight.

Problem is Vlagtwat, some of these selections look manipulated......me selecting Morne as a third choice in 2012.......I think not

Ahhhh. The age old trick. You should become a lawyer. Oh wait................ You are the one who did the dirty here you fvckingh slime-ball. You went back and changed your own post by editing out Jantjies and Rhule's name. I copied your original posts and now suddenly Jantjies and Rhule is not in there any more. How low can you go? Is it co-incidence that the two players that I have found on your lists were suddenly not in your original post?

That is a new low for you Saffsnake.

Ceradyne

It is a rare day for me being civil - so lets try one decent question.  You referred to a posting of Saffex on the Supersport site giving three players per position.   I think  there was a similar posting by him on this site somewhere in October - November 2012 on this site.

I do not know how to find these old SARugby  posts and wants to ask if you cannot help in that regard - can you please check and come back to us on that one?

snapster likes to select teams and they are always interesting to consider. Of course anyone who is familiar and understands rugby will realise that selections must change as those who looked promising fade and others come into the picture.Hence snapster keep up the selections and pay no notice of the obsessed windpomp (Man the twit has no idea how obsessed he appears).Windpomp you and the attack pack devastated ss board via your nasty approach to individuals. Great posters left and dispite the unbanning no one returned bar the forgiving Beeno!!! That must tell you something. Now windpomp we dont want any nasty attack pack developing here so keep that rubbish on what remains of ss board will you.  Why you come here to engage folk you helped get rid of raises questions as to motive. Trying to engineer a blowup here by any chance whereby ss board might benefit? Trying to form a coalition against snapster? Peeved he ended up here and has contributed so well? Beeno remaining suspicious of the wee windpomp. What are his motives are the question.

There is no doubt in my mind that Ceradyne is trying his old stunts on the Supersport site - where his main objective is to try and cause extreme discord amongst members of this site.

He appears to do so by cottoning onto a single statement - making all kinds of diversion  tactics - but never really comes up with anything positive.    He really never produce anything original about rugby issues.

Where he does try and make comments - he normally produces a totally distorted situation.   I can call up a large number of such situations - like a case where there was a discussion of Fourie's speed - where he comes up with a video on what he called the 2012 Try of the Year.   Problem was the video showed a match between Wales and the Springboks and we al know that -

*   there was no matches between Wales and the Springboks in 2012; and

*   Fourie has not played for the Springboks in 2012.

A further beauty was that Monty kicked a ball followed up by Fourie - which ultimately let to the scoring of the try.  Now we all know that Monty retired from international rugby in 2008 - so the whole statement was in fact false.   The excuse for the lie was that I said Fourie was never a really speedy player - so he had to concoct a lie - to prove me wrong - that is where he went wrong. I assume he was trying to convince members that there is at present nothing wrong with the speed of Fourie - hence the lie about the 2012 non-existent match and the try of the year.

I think it is best not to respond to most of his posts - since they are made only to cause trouble and discord between members and confine responses to the rare cases where he really is in fact making a rugby-related statement - as against the cases where his comments are aimed at causing a vendetta against members - or creating a situation where there are serious discord on this site.
