I was very interested to see the match since there were 7 SA player in the Sales side.  So what came to light in the game other than two La Rochelle  players collected 1 red card and two yellow cards during the match.   The were playing with  13 players for 15 minutes and with 14 for 42 minutes.  Despite that Sale did not look good even though they won the match,

The following needs comments:-

Janse van Rensburg played at 13.   Early in the match he looked good and score a try and then vanish from sight until the final minutes when he knocked on a ball when Sale tried to score a bonus point try.   Seems he is a bit slow for 13 - should play at 12.

Robert Du Preez played at 12 - nothing much to say about him - he was so-so

Faf de Klerk made a mockery of himself - he was actually a reason shy Sale did not win the game by a bigger margin,  He tried to play funny games  and also tried to much to do things himself,   Not a game to remember for him.

Ross was the Captain and his decision-making  was shit.  When you have 13 opponents on the fioeld you do not kick dicey penalty kicks at goal and the kicker missed 2 of those.

J ean-Luc du Preez played at lock - nothing much worth in line-outs - performance so-so

Oosthuizen - one good scrum early and then ran out of juice - not good enough I am afraid.

Akker van der Merwe - not good enough I am afraid,

Mike you are speaking kak re the SA players playing for Sale JVR was the best back on the field and saying he is not quick enough for 13 is a load of utter horse shit Based on what exactly is he not quick enough for 13. I actually prefer him at 13

Dave

I agree with you about ball carries - he did well  in that - but my reason for comment about his pace has to do with defense - he missed way too many tackles and that was because of being out-paced.  He lost possession 3 times - made 5 tackles and missed 5.   Not accep table,

His way if carrying balls indicated to me that he is very strong physically - but rather slower than I believe a 13 should be.
