The Sharks may as well consider their season to be over. The only small chance is to squeak into the playoffs. At this point the SA conference is looking like its between the Cheetas and the Bulls.

The Stormers could also be out of it with a loss tomorrow. A win tomorrow and wins in the Derbies could change things, but looking more and more like a 2 horse race.

At this point I am moving my support onto the Cheetas who are doing South Africa proud with a good attacking game plan, along with traditional SA defence and power.

Absolutely shambolic by the sharks. I think that plummers have lost the plot. When you start attacking your own players its time to go.

The same for allister coetzee

The man's clearly frustrated.

Who can blame him.

Give him a break.

I too would be doing my nut.

What did Plumtree say?

As the final whistle sounded I turned off the TV in disgust so I didn't hear any of the post match comments.

I hope Plum gave his players a roasting. That's not the first time on this tour that the Sharks haven't pitched up in the first half only to show in the second half that they could have been competitive all along. Rugby is not a game of one half and the Sharks players need to decide if they're committed to the cause or not!

Well done anyway to the Reds for a deserved win.

The sharks side is badly disrutped. One hoped for better but unrealistically. Having 17 squad members out has to effect a team.

Pity as they could have gone far.

Plumtree destroyed the Sharks when he targeted Frans Steyn. That sort of thing is like a slap in the face for the team. It became all about Fransie's weight. Sure the team is disrupted by injury, but there is still plenty of talent in what remains.....more talent than the Cheetahs have at their disposal.

That was a pathetic performance by the Sharks. In particular Bosman, Daniel, Cooper and Deysel were poor.

Bosman either spilt or got turned over everytime he had the ball. Daniel was a liability today. He has either lost pace, is injured or could not care less. The way he was left for dead when the Reds scored their second try was alarming, I thought he was injured.

Deysel for a big strong lad, has shocking hands.

Good old Plum goes and subs PSDT at halftime, their best forward - go figure.

The Sharks gave Cooper far too much space to dictate terms

The only players to emerge with a little credit were Mvovo, JP, Coetzee and PSDT.

What is it with Lambie missing touch with penalties - twice last week, once this week, not good enough - he needs to wake up.

Shocking performance by the Sharks. Plum has run his course - time for new coaching blood at the Sharks.

John Smit needs to crack the whip

saffex bro, du toits sub was injury related wasnt it??? thats what the commenattor said anyway. i think it was a blood bin, but he wasnt able to come back on.

i think the game ws the very definiton of a game of two halves, the reds won the first half & the sharks were the better team in the 2nd. but the damage had laready been done.

i dont know whats wrong with lambie, but i think hes got what ever morne had last year.

mvovo is stringing together some good perforamnces, which is great news for the Boks.

but the reds, they were just too fast too furious in the first half and thats what won the game, cooper was reds hot & digby showed why hes regarded as the worlds best winger,,,AGAIN,,,dont many players who is averaging 9 tackle breaks a game, o_O

on the back of some of the comments here lately, im surprised that more folks havent expressed their disbelief the game wasnt a draw??? :oP

the shark peeps shouldnt feel too bad, try being a canes supporter with that cockhead hammet running the show.

Whats up with Lambie at the moment ? Fair enough he is playing in a loosing side but trying so hard to make the Bok jersey his own, he has lost it. Why has he lost his zip and flair from 1 and 2 years ago ? He just does not look inspired with a hunger for rugby but someone who is just going through the motions.

While the Sharks are the walking wounded with all the injuries, i think JP did well at 13 but it is definately not a solution and some time ago it was mooted that it could even be a solution for the Boks. Great player but 13 just does not give him enough room.

I feel sorry for Keegan Daniel. He tries really hard in every aspect of the game, including trying to motivate his troops but unfortunately comes up a little short (no pun intended) every time.

Sharks coach Plumtree: 'I think we're dead now' Sharks coach John Plumtree thinks it over for his team this year

Sharks coach John Plumtree has admitted that his team are all but gone as far as the Super Rugby play offs are concerned this season.

Plumtree's Sharks were beaten 32-17 at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane on Friday by the Reds and have now lost their last five matches.

It took the Reds just over half an hour to score the bonus point for four tries and Plumtree described his team's performance in the first half as "terrible".

The Sharks fought their way back into the match in the second half and scored two tries but Plumtree could find few positives to take from the game.

"You can't give a side like the Reds that type of possession from unstructured defence," Plumtree told Sportal.

"They were just deadly from turnover ball.

"I thought the more of that they got, the more confident they got, and we couldn't help ourselves, we just kept on giving it to them.

"So it was a terrible performance in that first half."

Plumtree was happy that his team showed character in the second half but admitted the first half cost them the match.

"When we brought some pressure and we made them do some work in defence we started clawing our way back into the game," Plumtree said.

"That was pleasing, but it was obviously too much of a deficit at half-time to mount any real challenge in the end."

Coach Plumtree said that certain Sharks players had let themselves down with the performance.

"There's some individuals there that just let themselves down big time," he said.

"This week we talked about how important our defence would be but there's one or two players out there that are just out of form.

"There's some things that we can change, but there's some things we can't change because of the situation we've got with injuries, so we just have to keep boxing on."

Looking ahead at the Sharks chances of reaching the play offs in July Plumtree admitted it was over for his team.

"I think we're dead now," he said.

"It's just been a terrible season for us."
