The situation is weird.    The Sharks playing away against the Blues scored 63 points against the Blues - but there were some problems as to defense on their part as well,   But a 23 point victory is not to be sneezed at,

The Hurricanes had a spotty record thus far - beating weak teams and losing against the Highlanders and the Bulls,   In both teams their forwards were sub-standard and their backline wonderful.   However,  the backline on Saturday may be under pressure through problems in the forward pack similar to what happened to the Blues on Saturday/

I give the game as too close to call - but if the  Sharks repeats their game on Saturday the Hurricanes   may likely lose the game.

Not so clever mike. Canes beat Saders by ten three weekends ago. And 2 we ago beat Landers 29-12. Not sure where your getting your information from. And I Can't see Sharks getting any where near beating the Canes. Canes concede average 15 pts a game. And less then 3 tries a game. Best Def in the comp. Their rush def wont give the Sharks same time and space, blues did. In Saders game Canes tight five dominated an ab tight five. Not sure where your getting this idea Canes hav beat weak sides. Last three wins hav been over Crusaders, Highlanders, and top of the table Rebels. You consider them weak sides?

Hurricanes past three games

29-19 over the Crusaders

29-12 over the Highlanders

50-19 over the Rebels

Ok - I started the thread to get discussion going on the issue.   The bulls beat the Hurricanes because their forwards were not up to standard and that argument remains.   In the Bulls game Snyman and De Jager was all over them - their props and locks are questionable against. stronger opposition and a win over the Crusaders was nothing much - looking at the performance of the Saders this year against the Stormers at home and the Lions away.

However, we will see on Saturday how the Canes does against the Sharks and that for them will be a series defining game.   If they win with ease they have an excellent chance to win the series - if not they will not make the grade.

I have a feeling their  Outside Backs are too slow - they need a Milner-Skudder and a Goosen as wings = that would vastly improve their game.

...notsoclevermike obviously missed Ben Lam's four tries on the wing for the Canes on the weekend - what was he watching ?....can't see the game ending well for the Sharkies somehow... it will have to be a truly inspired performance from them... but will be good if they could soften up the Canes as the Chiefs are playing them the following week...

None of Lam's tries was the result of a speedy display by him.   I suspect he also have a space deficiency and prefer realspeedsers on the wing - noy eimgs woth he speed and physique of loose forwards.

Bwahahaha @ Brycy! "...I can't understand spinach..."
The Sharks defense was a joke on Saturday. If they defend like that they'll lose to most sides in the competition. Their attack looked good, and you can see they are really looking to offload at almost every opportunity. Fortunately that high risk type of offloading worked for them on the day, but it often doesn't work, and that is when their defense will be exposed.

I am going to bring in two Hurricanes players this week - with my luck that is enough to cause a serious problems for the Hurricanes.

Bulle tighten up on defence and blow the wee Canes away. They are there for the taking! Don't let your fans down.

Beeno

Planet Rugby said that the Hurricanes will win the game by 15 points - so start finding excuses for the loss.
