I was amazed about the Stormers performance if the team they actually fielded is borne in mind.    They withstood a lot of pressure - yet ultimately they won by ten points.

I was a bit late coming from a wedding - and only saw when the score was 3-0 in favour of the Stormers.    Jantjiesw concerted a penalty shortly thereafter and the score for a few minutes was tied.    After that the makeshift Stormers got 24 points against the Lions 14,   In fact two coverted tries was what the Lions ot in the process, whilst the stormers scored two tries plus a penalty.

In general I think that Bekker played well after his return from injury and De Villiers played well also.   However, he knocked a ball on when the Stormers were attacking.

De Villers himself ultimately summed up the game well - when he spoke about the makeshift team and the mistakes made by his team,

However, four points are four points on the log and should bnot be sneezed at.

Hope they can get a reasonable team together for the Cheetahs game - they will suffer if they play this team in Bloemfontein.

Well said Mike.

I also think the tem has to be strenghtned. From what one hears the pack will at least have kitshoff, Etzebeth and Elstadt back. Koster may also be back as well as Joe Pietersen. So we hould have  much better side.

Still wanting Schalk and Vermulen back as well!

Ja Mike I was just as impressed with this win as I was with the win against the Bulls before the break. It seems that this stormers side are learning to play as a team, i love it. They can be down on staff but the reserve staff just fit into the system well and do their part. They are turning into a machine. i don't expecte fireworks from them, It's more like an efficient Incredible colckwork. churning out what needs to be churend out without the flash. I like they play for each other.

And after all that, they still can't score 4 tries against the kakkest team in South Africa! I laugh the Bulls beat the Sharks with a bonus point next week and the Stormers slip up against the Cheetahs. Then all this "bonus points don't matter" talk will come to a sudden end. Credit where due, Stormers did well to win with such a depleted squad, but their backline has pretty much been untouched by injury this season...yet still they can't conjure up four tries! Even after an entire season together! VROT!!!!!

Bluebok you are spot on. Bonus points are vital. If we had been able to bag some we could be top of the log.

All this proves what I have said fo years. Alistair was a quota appoinment ot the Boks as a backline coach and also that Fleckie is no backline coach either. Between the two of them they have shown us nothing. The talent they have is not performing to potential.

Dick Muir is another who was no backline coach.

We need to get in guys like Venter, Campese, Louden etc get the best avaialble after a world wide scan. At a Bok level this is our number one need. Get in a backline coach and a Nienaber and we have the complete coaching package. Meyer, Rassie, Venter, Nineaber and Pieter de Villiers (former French prop).

As a sounding board they could also use Mallet to talk to. Now that is what I call a brains trust. Beeno, for a moderate fee of course,  could be consulted to deal with insolvable problems  - when all else fails!!
