There are only a couple of derbys in the other conferences that come anywhere near the intensity of the South African derbys. That fact has been misinterpreted as saying the others of lesser quality. That isn't true. I have been making an effort to watch more non-South African games over the last few years and I have witnessed this lack of intensity and physicality. Even Michalak said that it much more resembles test rugby! What is also noticeable is how those Aussie and Kiwi sides lift that intensity and physicality when they play sides like the Bulls have Stormers.
