Well if we lose the nouse around meyers neck might just get tighter and tighter...we can only hope and pray he gets sacked
the upside to losing (maybe)
I always find it a bit odd when fans say stuff like this. Wouldn't you rather Meyer prove evryone wrong and the boks win by 30? It is a completely defeatist attitude. Not liking his selections is one thing but wanting your national team to lose just so a coach is proven wrong (still speculation) is delving into new depths. It reminds me of certain Australians' attitudes toward the Deans led Wallabies even before the Lions series. Ewen replaced Deans by popular demand it seems and what has happened so far?
I'm not saying Meyer is doing a good job (or a bad job), just saying don't cut off your nose to spite your face...
I'm with you wfunston!
those of us that know what the boks are capable and knows that the level we can achieve if the right proceses are implemented but with al due respect you NZ boys dont see or hear what we hear and me and all the rest of the posters here dont want to see this type of rugby as our national brand. this is not the south african way. that idea or concepts has been high jacked by plonkers like meyer and co. we know how the story goes and we as bok fans have been down this road way to many times and we dont want to be there again. this last 20 odd years for bok rugby has been by far the leanest for us and this is not because we are poor or have rubbish players its because the game is approached the wrong way.
our teams of the 80's and before that played a brand of rugby that made us world beaters and everyone including the AB feared us. but this crock of shit that ever since 1995 onwards he has been playing is so one dimensional and predictable that we wont dominate rugby. those that have at least a few brain cells left that know better can see us stuck in the mud and the wheels are spinning but we are in effect getting nowhere.
as i coach myself i am seeing schoolboy errors and just plain ignorance like not picking a player like brussouw this stranged love affair with overseas based players and a game pattern that i last saw from archive footage back in the 50's makes my skin crawl. cant play modern rugby with out a opensider....you all can agree with me......with out a mccaw or pocock/hooper/smith just imagine how both the AB and wallies would have played ?
if you want to compare deans with meyer its a fair comparison both very good super rugbby coaches but by the looks of it cant cut it at the top level. its not defeatism at all gents i know in the long run bok rugby will be better off with someone that is not a one track mind pony....i have no beef with meyer as a person one of the greatest blokes on the block...i have met him before and one of the most down to earth men you can find but his workaholic robotic style of presise coaching is not going to bring us the RWC 2015.
I can hear the frustration carpetmuncher. The tone on this forum has taken a 180 degree turn after the last round. Correct me if i'm wrong but I think Brussow's Japanese contract has rendered him unavailable for Springbok selection.
Seems as though South African rugby is being lacerated by European/Japanese clubs. Immediate action needs to be taken. This has been talked about before but to me it is glaringly obvious that bok selectors need to stop picking offshore players to stop this burst dam of a situation. Ebersohn is another example...
well he left because meyer made it as clear as daylight he is not good enough to be picked so why would any player stay when he is not welcome ?????
yes we are being raped by overseas clubs but that is pard and parcel due to saru' s and meyers selection policys......meyers obsession in picking overseas based players has open the flood gates.
one thing i can say is from your NZRU is that they have made a firm stance against picking overseas based players and NZ rugby in a general is stronger for it. so at least your management is handeling it the best possible way. NZ has a lot smaller pool of players registerd but by not picking overseas based players like it has been policy for SARU for many years your rugby will remain all local based and stronger for it.
Since meyer has taken office the mentality has changed dramaticly and even jake and co has come out against this.
Dire situation we are in when NZ fans have to stick up for the Bok coach and offer some perspective
wfunston - you hit it on the nose.
