The worst selections....flops that linger.
Reinach - Better than the bumbling Hougaard, but average against top quality test teams.
Koch - Low work rate player.
Noche- Seems to get one or two games a season.
Carr - One season wonder that ceased.
Delande- Seems to be getting some basic form back. He was hopeless for the last 3 season, and I thought he was going to find a new sport. He has the ideal natural abilities of a modern centre that is big and fast - except his brain cell sometimes desert him- especially on defence.
Lambie- was silenced once and for all by CJ Stander. Lambie was a decent bench player- but he could not control at test match against quality opposition
Stephanie- The best of a bad bunch. His work rate is excellent and he is a thinking player. A certain starter or impact player that can cover multiple positions (in the forwards only.... He seems to have become the new Matfield moonlighting in the backs or on the wing)Adrian Strauss- Seems to have gotten form back, at least much better than he was in recent years- but I doubt he has it in him to play test rugby and Super rugby in the same season without huffing and puffing from ruck to ruck.
Mozart
Who are the you referring to? And then who is the Strauss you mentioned>
And for the rest nothing new - the normal string of unsubstantiatedf BS. Nobody can ever take you serious anyway.
Why do you not for a change suggest players to be considered. We all are in serious need of jokes - but please make some suggestions.
And became the youngest Under=Secretary in the Public Service. Stupid answer to a very real question - so why don't you give us the names of the players your support and then we can discuss your stupidity again.

By the way the heading is misleading - I actually thought you were going to deal with the reputation players that lingered long after their sell-bye date.
... perhaps Tokkie got as far as he did because of his affiliations to the ANC. He was and probably still is a card carrying member. He turned his back on his people for self enrichment and now struts his stuff as though his prosperity was due to his own effort. He has no integrity.
Back to the rugby.
There is a very big difference between a test match rugby player and those we consider as "decent".
The "decent" players should only ever be called upon when there is no alternative. We have enough depth in most positions to avoid them ever entering the fray.
Sadly, many of the players listed above don't even make the "decent" list. To think that they were actually given a Bok jumper boggles the mind. Guys like Rhule, Mapoe, Carr, Nokwe, Reinach and Goosen are all part of that list. Not test material.
Guys like Lambie, Strauss and Coetzee had their opportunities. Things happen. Injuries ... foolish coaches ... not making the most of a once in a life time opportunity. Fate stepped in and decided the outcome. They are all part of our history and I think it's best we leave them there.
Pieter Steff Du Toit is a class act in my opinion. He is the only one of the above list that I would have no issues selecting to the run on team ... at lock. I think his selection to the blindside flank is actually doing him more harm than good. He could end up being one of those players that never made it because of other peoples foolish decisions. He should be left at lock.
Mozart dislikes him and has criticized him unfairly at times ... but I think that has a lot to do with Mike's love of the player.
De Allende is not a man I want anywhere near the Boks. He is nothing but a brainless freight train. I don't like his selfishness ... his deep rooted desire to play the hero all the time ... and his inability to protect his channel. He is not a team player.
Lomp is probably a little better than the "decent" brigade. I would not totally discard him. He needs to build his upper body strength and learn to play for the full 80. A bench player at best. I would much rather have Schickerling on the bench though.
Yes ... I absolutely agree that we should trust our past experiences. They tell a story. A story of too many failures and at times awful humiliations at the hands of Japan and Italy.
I look forward to Rassie's first match 23.
I was Under secretary for Indian Education and the stupidest guy in the class I was not, Had 2 "A's", 1 "B" and 3 "C's" in matric - so the idiot in you have taken over as per normal.

I was not in the public service of the central government by 1994 - matter of fact I was pensioned off in 1984 because of a breakdown in relations between Rajbansi - Botha's lapdog - and myself. I joined the ANC as a member in 2002 and left it when Zuma became president in 2009.
Lets get back to the situation as to rugby. Most of the thinking people on site at one stage or another posted lists of players on site they will want to see in Rassie's squad. You will nearly never get such a posting by Mozart - he recently posted a list of selections from one of our more dim journalist,
All he does is criticize players he dislikes. Unfortunately that has nothing to do with player performances. Most of the criticism started when players who competed for selection against players like for instance Matfield, Jannie du Plessis and Alberts and has been consistent since then. To justify his dislike he sues all kind of deceptive statements about instances happening on the field of play and then make out that the player is substandard based on what I at times call outright lies.
I know we are all human and have players whom we would like to see in the squad. I try not to show too much of those even though it may seem different to you. I try and base my supporton actual performances over a period. That is why Super Rugby is such a good means of evaluating players.
Take for instance the Lions-Blues game and the Stormers-Blues game the next week. In both cases Sonny-Bill Williams was the Blue's inside center. The Lions lost the midfield battle, De Allende humiliated SBW. That shows clearly how my thought process on performance actually works..
However, I generally think that there are decent players who should never be in the Springbok team - but Mozart's evaluation - not based on performance, but prejudice is not a basis to identify player capacities.
PW Botha became president without a university degree...Zuma became president without finishing primary school.
No Mozart
I no doubt have deficiencies, but I am not a superiority-complex C#nt like you,
Listen - because you were caught out writing repetitive BS again and asked a logical question you could not answer all comments have become personal attacks again
By the way there is a threat relating to Hansen I started dealing with Pollard - which you probably read without comprehending what happened as to Pollard and the tests he played in. Why don't you f or a change read that and not allow your stupidity to linger longer than it should.
So what else is to be expected from you?
You must even be dumber than I think you are. I was in charge of Personnel and Budgeting and Finance where I also became the unofficial adviser of National Treasury on Education Finance..
Bad luck dumbo.
Mozart
You can call in some help simpleton - but not knowing my qualifications and abilities is beyond your comprehension and just like in the case of rugby you are making comments about something you know f#ck all about.
Not applicable at all to Government budgeting and frankly not interested in your BS.
Now back to you and rugby - why not tell us why Matfield, Jannie and Alberts were not useless by 2015 and give real reasons why you state so. They lingered well past their sell-by date. Abd trell us again when your campaign against Du Toit started.
And also tell us why your evaluation of player performances are not prejudiced BS based on falsification of facts.
Lastly is this a rugby site or what - BSter?
I only reacted to your BS personal attacks and never mentioned anything relkatiing to my personal background otherwise.
Now answer the rugby questions - but that obviously is beyond your level of rugby knowledge>
We need some entertainment on site - so answer the questions please. Matfield is not the only one and you did not react to how he f#cked up in 2014 and 2015. So tell us why he should be in the Springbok team in those years.
Then deal with the others I mentioned as well doffies.
Perhaps we should look at the tests played in 2015 by the players mentioned above. Starting off with
* Pat Lambie - 4 tests
*- Morne Steyn - 10 minutes from the bench
* Ruan Pienaar - dropped like a hot potato after major contributor to the Japan disaster
* Juan Smith - no tests - he played in one in 2014 and apologized for poor eprformamnce
* Handre Pollard - assistant flyhalf in five tests
* Fourie du Preez - No test rugby for near to three years and played in five tests in WC
* Marcel Coetzee - no tests played
* Jean de Villiers - 3 tests in 2015 - Japan disaster contributor
I can go on and on about that list of 100 players. For example the highest rank SA player was Vermeulen who was out with a neck injury and played in the last 5 WC tests where he was poorer than before injury.
I have to accept your joke - really funny Matfield was no 46 in the lock hierarchy in 2015. What did I tell you - he was useless in 2014 and 2015.. Just let me remind you of four achievements of Matfield in 2014 and 2015:-
* He fumbled a line -out five meters out when a rolling maul was anticipated - but for Matfield's poor line out play
* He nearly handed the AB's a victory in the2014 Ellis Park test when he failed in a crucial line-out leading to an AB try
* He lost the first line-out throw when he came from the bench in the WC semi
* He caused a penalty reversal from a kickable penalty.
I can remember how you tried to convince us the above did not happen
Ok ... I guess that's the end of this thread.
Had some real potential.
Pity.

The problem is that one must never expect too much from Mozart as to what should be done iro Springbok rugby - given the serious problems the National Team faces at present. However, that really is too much to be expected from Mozart.
He repeats the same stories - sometimes with garbled additions for the past five years about the same players. It al started when the same players started to come through from the juniors and start to threaten Mozart's favourite rugby geriatrics.
What he wrote then is not different from what he writes now. That type of writing is not of ny help at present. Instead of studying the present competitors for selection and writ e objective assessments of performances - the drivel that was with us for five years continues. He is harping about the past and not the future - where I think our challenges are,
That is why I asked him to come forward with some names to be considered for selection by Erasmus and forget about his pet hates -they are not threatening the geriatrics anymore.insofar as selection is concerned. Nothing - but a string of personal attacks ensued. He knows noting about what I did in public service or in the Municipality where I worked. He knows nothing about my qualifications either/ But that is where he tried to divert attention to.
To conclude - there is no solution to the Springbok problems harping about the past and carrying through past prejudice into the present scenario. We all have differences about players and that will always be the case. Our viewpoints are normally based on personal performance assessments - Mozart's is not. . .
Oh no, Maaik and Moz don't get along!!!
