The young player that is a better bet than Papier...
Oh wow ... it's taken you all season to see the obvious talent this man has.
Papier is as average as they come. He's brought nothing extra into his game this season. He's a quota and won't amount to anything special in world rugby.
Herschelle has natural talent coming out his ears. He's the best scrummie we've seen since Joost and should be one of the first names jotted down.
Agreed Moz as time goes on he is proving himself.
Papier has that explosiveness as well. Silly to be trashing him.
What about Reinach. Blistering pace, fastest 9 in world rugby and now a mature player.
Running the 100 in less than 11seconds doesn't qualify you as worthy of Bok duty.
There a little more to it than that.
Ya don't say cc. Well I watched a clip about Reinach scoring brilliant tries.
Saffex rates him and I can't but wonder if Rassie has him in mind. Reinach is now an experienced player
Actually I do say.
Saffex also rates JJ Engelbrecht, Elton Jantjies and Siya Kolisi.
I wouldn't put much into anything he has to say about rugby players.
Agree Moz.
He looks like a crafty and nippy 9er.
Shezza
On what account does he have more experience?
The games difference is marginal, and yes Papier has played a few tests but he's been coming off the bench at the end of the games for all but one or two or them. Jantjie s time at the Scarlets is a benefit, Wales produce quality scrumhalves and being coached in a different country is a good thing, exposing them to new ideas etc.
Good call, though Papier was poor last year too, making this a one-sided contest. I remember the dark days of Bok rugby, when we had a conveyor belt of test quality 9s; I don't like any of our options a great deal. A good passing 9 would amplify our attack, anything more than a short ball to a POD runner seems to be asking too much.
So lets look at the 2015 scrummies of Meyer as part of the conveyor belt of the dark days. The fact is that the conveyer belt included Du Preez - who was good in 2007 and barely adequate in 2015, Pienaar way over the hill and Paige - who cannot even find a regular place in the Cheetahs team.
The were for instance all inadequate kickers - too far ahead for effective follow-up, No wander they were on the conveyer belt. . The fact is that AO has no idea what happens on a field of play and his comments in this case is delusional at best.
Better to ignore the Idiot Speaker. As to Mozart opening up a thread about the same issue s raised by me earlier is seriously funny, The thread I started was turned by Mozart and Pakie to personally attack me - not a word by the scrummies, Typical Idiot Speak - so I will stick with the comments I made in that thread.
We are lucky to at last in a decade have three really competitive and thinking scrummies in Faf, Jantjies and Reinach. Meyer would not select Faf - he nearly ruined Reinach who had to go to England where he turned out to be a contender for player of the year award last year, the result of a non-existent game plan for scrummies. So why be negative now on any player? .
The future as to scrummies looks good despite the comments of the Idiot Speaker.
2015? Who mentioned 2015? You make too many assumptions.
As per 2015, du Preez was world class. In the best shape of his career. Better than any South African, anywhere on earth, since he retired. I was never a fan of Pienaar at 9, but his service was crisp and fluid in 2015. I find it quite remarkable that it came out of nowhere. Better than Faf, Schreuder, Paper, van Zyl, Herschel and Reinach. Easily. Paige played very little part in the WC, but played well when called upon. Another K/O to your record.
I love this: "Meyer nearly ruined Reinach"
Reinach produced exactly the same dish of tripe he served at the Sharks under...
PLUMTREE.
It's not the job of the Bok coach to teach basic skills. He doesn't have nearly as much time with these players as their unions do. My gosh Lügnerin, it looks like it's going to be another long day for you!
Idiot Speaker
Sure it is not a coach's job to teach basic skills - but it is his job to have a game plan and to refine the basic skills to something constructive fitting into the game pan . I mentioned it because thatw as part f your conveyor belt.
That being the case - Du Preez fitted in perfectly into Meyer's failed non-functioning "game plan" and by 2015 was barely adequate as a scrummie - a world away from being world class anymore. And Reinach was anytime better at that stage than the Meyer choices. It is amazing how Faf and Reinach had to go to England to prove their abilities as players, Meyer and Coetzee (your latest hero so much better than Erasmus) buggered up strings of players through idiotic coaching and selections.

When was that doffies? Was it before or after Jantjies started playing regularly as Stormers scrummie? And after many people mentioned Jantjies you cottoned on and now claim you "discovered" him on site, LMAO
LMAO
What makes the failure of the fan flubs under Meyer so bad is that he crafted the gameplan around these players. He very seldom asked them to do things they did not do for the unions. When Goose was called up, the gameplan changed immediately to accommodate the kinds of runs and plays he was used to for the Cheetahs. Something Taute thrived under, yet Goosen couldn't pick up. When Damian was called up, the same shapes and plays were implemented and he was asked to do what everyone said he was the best in the world at doing. It was a spectacular implosion, and you cannot blame Meyer. To say there was no gameplan at all is unforgivably ignorant. You may not be able to see it; doesn't mean I can't. Then again, we all know your penchant for a whip of the forked tongue.
Reinach was never a skilled scrumhalf. Those charge downs? We saw them under three coaches. Who could forget the 2015 Stormers game, where Reinach took an age to wind up the boot and conceded a try from a charge down? His pass has never been good either, which we saw again against Australia. Is Rassie now failing to implement a gameplan to further refine his skills and take advantage of his talent? You keep stepping all over your own toes.
What are you talking about? What game plan did Meyer crafted that was applied in practice. There was never any real game plan - only repetitive garbage. No he called up Goosen because Morne was so shockingly poor and Goosen did play a top game against the Aussies - nothing of the sort we ever a again afterwards. he was not long enough with the Springbok squad to have his natural abilities coached out of him by Meyer.
So why - when Reinach escaped from the clutches of idiot coaches - did he flourish in England? Dismal idiot - did Reinach not score the bonus point try against the Aussies? Get real for a change.
I didn't ask for reasons why Morné was subbed/dropped. I'm talking about how the players were used. Goosen was actually very poor against Australia. He made one run where he isolated himself and got turned over. His next big contribution was a simple pass to Kirchner for a try, only, he crabbed and managed to deliver the ball with a defender. He was blown away in every single contact situation. Every key attacking movement was sparked by Habana. In fact one of the tries was scored by good work from Habana at first receiver. Pick a better platform to fight next time Lügnerin!
Against New Zealand, he missed runners in good positions each and every time. In the All Black 22, he had Taute run a clever line in Nonu's blindspot, but he chose to throw a pass into the teeth of the defence. This could have been a try. Later Kirchner ran a nice line to expose some space, Goosen threw a hospital pass to Taute. So, the gameplan created opportunities. He was unable to take those opportunities. There is more to this, but these references sufficiently highlight his shortcomings.
Reinach flourished up north? I watched three games and saw nothing special. Supposedly his boot is a lethal weapon, we saw no evidence of this against Australia. I did see him throw a long dart into no man's land and he couldn't throw a flat ball over 2m - it went forward. What's changed? A man who likes to run, just he did in 2013 to 2015.
No you would never see anything special about any player. Just answer me one question? How did Goosen become the Top Player in France in 2016 and Reinach a nominee for the top playe in England in the 2018-19 season?
Idiocy supreme - your match descriptions are always false - so that remains an example of idiocy on your part.
I have never seen Goosen become a top player in France. I've never heard of this. As for Reinach, probably the same way Pienaar was lauded throughout the NH, remember that? No, I didn't think so. In any case, this is no longer conjecture or a hypothetical, we know Reinach still cannot distribute. His skills are still poor. Evidence: Two weeks ago. His most recent body of work. The only positive you can point out is his running, which was always his thing. Is he a wing like Hougaard was? You lose again.
No because you do not know and understand what really happens anyway. Just one question - why would Montpellier pay top money to get Goosen released from his contract with Racing Metro if he was NOT the top [layer in France. Believe me it was all over the papers.
SAnd then dimness - still do not regard scoring of tries as important in games? Ask Dave how many tries Reinach scored to get nominated for the Top player award in the past season?
Maybe you would learn somethings of importance about rugby if you can think about the game performances and forget about pet hate of players. use your brain nd not your arse hole for a change.
LM AO
I don't need to watch NH rugby. If I want to know what these players do for the Boks, I'll evaluate their Bok games. I'm not concerned with their NH teams, what they do for those teams is of no concern to me. What can they do for the Boks? Goosen and Reinach have yet to prove themselves at test level. They've done nil, zero, nada. It's that simple.
