The announcement was made in Bellville ahead of usual Monday afternoon training session by the Western Province Currie Cup squad.
Over the weekend, the name Eddie Jones was on everyone's lips after he guided Japan to a shock 34-32 win over South Africa in what was hailed as the biggest upset in World Cup and Springbok history.
Jones, Japan's head coach, l have been on the 'wanted list' of several countries, including South Africa, after the 'Brave Blossoms' recorded a historic win in Brighton, England, on Saturday.
Commentators worldwide singled out Jones as the biggest single contributing factor in the win that sent shockwaves to the rugby world. The Stormers' post became vacant when head coach Allister Coetzee stepped down from the position last season to coach the Kobe Kobelco Steelers in Japan.
Initially, a number of coaches were linked to the post including former All Blacks coach John Mitchell, former Sharks coach and current Hurricanes assistant John Plumtree, Springbok forwards coach Johan van Graan, Junior Springbok coach Dawie Theron and former Wallaby mentor Ewen McKenzie.
Jones would not have been too impressed with he saw from the Stormers' players who played in Saturday's match against Japan.
