There's challenges aplenty...

facing HM building into the WC and none more than getting his selections right. Blunt tools won't perform neither will a talented player lacking the necessary experience.

HM is charged with getting the blend right and he has to get it right this year rather in the year of the WC.

The gamble with Matfield is an interesting one, the knockers are already in a fit over his comeback and they are sharpening their knives ahead of his selection to the Bok squad and starting lineup.

Jake made some interesting choices as well, he brought back Os, Percy, Bobby and Snyman,of the four Snyman was the only failure.

 

Coaches don't always get it right, HM will make his fair share of mistakes just like every other coach, time will tell us whether bringing back Victor is a masterstroke but I hope he'll go the way of Jake, that when it came down to a crucial eighty minutes he got it spot-on.

I hope Heyneke gets it right, I think bringing Matfield back into the fold will probably be a step too far. I think if he is looking to take along someone with experience for the lock position I think Bakkies could do it.  For what it's worth, I'd be against taking Bakkies, Steenkamp and Fourie too, they just don't seem to offer too much apart from being solid. 
I think for the WC there will be enough experience in JDV, Fourie Du Preez, Habana, JP, Bismarck, Beast, etc. I think these with a good mix of younger and less experienced players is probably the way to go. I am not a big Morne fan by any stretch, I don't think he's as good as the media make out nor do I think he is in our top 3 fly-halves but he is one I think we should take for experience. 
It's easy saying it from where I am though, I guess when you're in the pressure cooker like Meyer then it's much harder.

Agreed APD......the only experience Meyer needs to draw on are Habana, JP, Jean, Frans, du Preez, Beast, Bismark, Chiliboy, Strauss, Jannie, Alberts, Louw and Brussouw........even some of these, I personally would be moving on from like Jean, du Preez, Jannie, Alberts and Louw.........

A core of Habana, JP, Frans, Beast, Bismark, Chiliboy, Strauss and Brussouw would provide the experience needed.......add to this core, squad incumbents like Willie, JJ, Serfontein, Lambie, Goosen, Hougaard, Coenie, Etzebeth, Steph du Toit, Vermeulen, Kolisi, Arno Botha and Coetzee and you have the core of your Bok squad.

Into this mix one only needs to add talented youngsters like Taute, Rhule, v/d Heever, de Allende, Andre Esterhuizen, Jantjies, v/Zyl, Reinach, Kitshoff, Malherbe, Nkanyane, Marcel v/d Merwe, de Jager, Paul Willemse, Jacques du Plessis, Labascagne, CJ Stander, v/d Walt and Elstadt and a host of others, emphasising the fact that we do not need to draw on a bunch of washed up old farts like Steenkamp, Bakkies, Matfield, Fourie and co.
