or exciting about the way the Stormers play, as a matter of fact compared to the Cheetahs they're boring but one thing they know and that is how to win....mostly winning dirty by just falling over the line. In a competition which supports attacking play it's surprising how a defence based team can lead the competition and a real chance in taking out the honours. It begs the question whether defence trumps attack......I know at the WC it does but in a competition that awards bonus points for tries scored it's simply amazing.
There's nothing spectacular.....
Defence trumps attack? Good question.
I'm amazed how many teams this year are winning games with 40% possession.
I hope we don't get to a stage where the team that wins the most turnover ball wins the game.
One thing for sure - when we get to the knock out stages, defence will trump attack.
You guys are being sucked into this defence theory of the Stormers, did you see them on attack, they are lethal. They defend beautifully, theres no doubting that, but they are just dangerous on attack as well.
@denny,
i know what u mean, but anyone whose played the game knows that its better to win ugly, than lose pretty. i like the way the stormers play their game, backing their defence, kicking for territory and capitalising on opposition mistakes. they also have a backline which is amongst the best in the comp, so when required they can turn the heat on and attack, but ultimately that is not their primary objective. IMO SA teams have historically not been attacking teams.
@jeremyv2161,
crusaders had the best attack last year and the stormers had the 2nd best defense, yet crusdaers beat them twice and the 2nd time was in the semis at newlands with a 19 point beatdown.
