Dricus Du Plessis won his title contender fight on the weekend by finishing the Kiwi/Ozzie Robert Whittaker.
Nobody gave Dricus a chance but our giga-chad Dricus absolutely smoked him. He down Whittaker with a switch-stance jab and then rushed him down landing some brutal body shots and forcing the ref to step in. TLDR Whitaker got big-brothered into oblivion by the hungrier and stronger man.
It's the highest rank a SA fighter has achieved in the UFC and the next stop is the title fight.
Dricus is quoted as saying that he wants to be the first real African champ. There are black Africans that are champs but none of them fight out of Africa and most of them left Africa at a young age.
His comments were immediately turned into a racial thing with said champions claiming that Dricus was saying he was more African than them. Which he never said.
The current middle-weight champ, Israel Adesanya took massive offense to Dricus' remarks and lashed out, calling him a cracker, a nigger and and and...
However, UFC fans have been behind Dricus en masse. They understood that he was talking about living in and fighting out of Africa and how important an example his achievements are. They know what he was talking about and that he never made any claims concerning race but was rather saying that we should stop thinking one has to live abroad to fight at a high level and be successful.
As a result, Adesanya is bleeding fans and Dricus is gaining them by the thousands.
