....as was Pietersens cop out shot. Gutless really. But you have to love these Aussie commentators. After whining on about how Johnson's  extra pace is "hostile", Broad bowls faster in his first over.

And what's with the flies in Melbourne. I remember once following a chap out of Melbourne airport with at least 15 flies on his back. Pretty unattractive. Anybody know why this is the fly capital o f the world?

I do not know how the Aussies can regard Johnson as a superhero - but Aussie cricket has gone down in recent years and even over the last two years he was in and out of the team at times.

The English team has become very poor over the past year and it was evident that they would not survive in the Ashes this year.   Too many of their players are playing on reputation and very little else.   They were shown up badly in England by SA and way in India was a disgrace.

That being said - the Aussies will play SA in two months time and they have not done well against us recently.   Wonder what they will do to Mitchell Johnson then?

It is not an excuse for the form of the England form at the moment but you have to look at the amount of test cricket that they have played in the last two years and expecially this year. SA were always going to beat them in 2012. We have been on top of them since 2008 home and away. Since the SA tour of England in 2012 they have played the following tests:

2012 SA (Home) - 3 match series, lost
2012/3 India (Away) - 4 match series, won 2-1. How can in winning in India be a disgrace?
2012/3 New Zealand (Home) - 3 match series, drawn.
2013 New Zealand (Away) - 3 match series, won 2-0.
2013 Australia (Home) - 5 match series, won 3-0.
2013/4 Australia (Away) - 5 match series (in progress). Series Lost

That is 23 test matches

Yes, the wheels have come off in this series but they have not been near as useless as you are saying. It is also the first time in more than a year that they have actually been demolished.

Compare their schedule to ours over the same period:

2012 England (away) - 3 tests
2012/3 Australia (home) - 3 tests
2012/3 New Zealand (home) - 2 tests
2012/3 Pakistan (away) - 3 tests.
2013/4 Pakistan (home) - 2 tests
2013/4 India (home) - 2 tests (in progress)

That is a total of 15 tests against England's 23 tests over the same period.

Something had to give at some stage.

Ag Dave, come now, a man of your considerable talents, why, I reckon you'd knock em both out in one foul swoop.

You have to love the arrogance or the plodding humour of these Aussies.....having a contest as to which of Sydney, Melbourne or Adelaide is the best city in the world. The watchers picked the fly capital of the world.
I have spent many a week in Melbourne  and comparing that place to CT, is like comparing a Ford to a Ferrari.

I think you mean comparing Sydney to Cape Town is a fair comparison, nevertheless, the POMS must be relieved that it's the Ozzies turn to make your shitlist...
