I fee l sorry for him, he took forever to get into the Bok setup, and after he finally did, his age has started to catch up with him and he has been dogged by injury. He should have achieved much more in his career.

All I can say is that the Stompies calling their hero "Thor" or "Thormeulen" is the g@yest thing I've ever heard . . . but I suppose it's par for the course for the Cape Town okes.

Careful guys - Mozart would have a fit about your comments above. His hero Meyer initially preferred Spies and only when Spies was injured selected Vermeulen. Since 2015 Vermeulen was injured for months at a time - matter of fact for most of the seasons - but he was always Mozart's choice even though he has not seen any matches Vermeulen played for his club.
I am sorry for the guy but at 31 and with his injury record he cannot be selected for the Springbok tea m in future.

Kak, ou Maaikie. Meyer played Spies in his early tests because Vermeulen was injured. Not the other way round. When Meyer took over in 2012, there were a number of players who he said was key in his future plans. The three most prominent, at the time, was Vermeulen, Schalk Burger and Johan Goosen.

Actually, Chip ... Meyer made a lot of mistakes as Bok coach. His biggest one was putting his name in the hat.
He still had the peoples respect ... up until his name was drawn that is.
Now he's the laughing stock of world rugby. The chump who lost to Japan.

Coach Allister Coetzee today confirmed that Gio Aplon (hamstring), Eben Etzebeth (shoulder), Jean De Villiers (wrist), Andries Bekker (back), have all recovered and will be available for selection against the Cheetahs next Saturday.
Schalk Burger, Duane Vermeulen and Nick Koster (all knee injuries) are expected to return only after the June break.
“We are in a good position at the moment, but it can all be quickly undone. The next 4 games are crucial to our camp aign and our focus is fully on the Cheetahs next week.” said the coach. “We are really looking forward to playing in front of the Faithful again. Our time on tour was good, but there is really nothing like playing in front of our home fans. Newlands is a special place and the guys feed off that energy.”
The DHL Stormers have a bye this week and play the Cheetahs at DHL Newlands next Saturday 12 May at 1910.

So Vermeulen was back after the June test in 2012 and Meyer only picked him at 8 when Spies got injured in 2013. Vermeulen had no chance - in 2012 Meyer picked - in his own words - players he was familiar with. So 14 Bulls played in tests in 2012 - not because they were the best players available - but because Meyer was familiar with them.
Meyer afterwards admitted he was wrong and started picking players from other unions - but he only picked Vermeulen and Le Roux when Spies and Kirchner was not available in 2013 because of injury. There was one exception to Meyers rule in 2012 and that was Morne Steyn. He was so piss poor in 2012 that Meyer was forced to drop him from the team that year. Same happened in 2014 when after the disaster in the Perth test Meyer could not take it any longer and dropped him from the team. He got into the WC squad by default and failed miserably when Coetzee was stupid enough to start him in two tests in 2016.

Ou Maaikie, you and facts have a very peculiar relationship. You always seem to be 100% sure that facts are on your side but for some reason it always comes back to bite you in the behind. Pierre Spies' last test in the first have of 2012 was the third test against England. I say first half purely because it is irrelevant and I could not be bothered to check up on it. Anyway, Spies was then replaced by Keegan Daniel for the first RC test against Arg. Daniel was then replaced by Alberts for the second Arg test.
Now cast your mind back, or rather try to do that. Before the first test against Aus, it was reported that Vermeulen and Goosen were both fit again and HM summonsed them both to Aus. Naka Drotske was of the opinion that it was too soon for Goosen and almost begged Meyer to allow Goosen to play a few CC games first.
Now, are you ready to concede that Vermeulen was selected the moment that he was fit after his injury, that he was injured in 2012, that he was selected in 2012 and most importantly, are you ready to make a statement reading: "I, NotSoCkeverMike, hereby admit that I was indeed the one talking kak, and not Ceradyne"? Come on Mike, let's see if you have some balls.
To add further insult to injury, you have to start biatching about the number of Bulls players in the Bok sides in 2012. Surely you don't want to go there again, do you? Save yourself from getting another "klap teen die kop", mate.

I hope vermeulen gets back - he is a great loss to the Stormers. As for Burger - unfortunately he is unlikely to ever play rugby again - and it would be a disaster to select him and then have to replace him after five minutes on the field. Raher Fourie than him.

You said that Vermeulen wasn't selected until 2013. He played in the 2012 RC.
You said that HM waited until Spies was injured before he played Vermeulen. HM played Vermeulen the minute when Vermeulen was ready to play again. In fact HM tried out two different players, after Spies, in the absence of the injured Vermeulen.
You said that Vermeulen wasn't even injured in 2012. I quoted you several articles addressing Vermeulen's (and others') injuries. To add insult to injury, I quoted a post from 2012 of you, yourself, bemoaning Vermeulen's injury.
And then you accuse me of talking kak! What planet or you?
