....gave the Stormers a "beasting" not a "beating" according to RooiAdder. In point of fact they did neither, but just scraped a win at home.
But why a "beasting"? This is a term used by the Brit military for hardship designed to improve discipline and performance. Why would the Sharks not want to give the Stormers a simple beating and leave it at that? Why improve their performance? This from Oxford underlines the meaning of the term:
"Definition of beasting
noun
[mass noun] British informal- (especially in the armed forces) the process of subjecting a new recruit to harsh treatment in order to instil discipline. "
The answer is simple old RooiAdder got it wrong again....he thought a 'beasting" and a "beating" were pretty much the same thing. Nothing funnier than a 50 year old lush trying to be hip and getting it wrong............wehe!
