Young Goosen has a brilliant turn of pace, but so has this new chappie Rian Smit.......and then on comes Ebersohn and beats tackle after tackle. What's in the water in Bloem? Assuming of course they have water.
What a monumental game this was...Bismarck and Strauss showing great power...big hits all over the park, and some fine back play. I'm not sure those Bismarck elbows to opponents heads will always be missed though.Brussouw made one brilliant try saving steal. Mvovo and Jordaan had some fine runs. Young Jordaan has pace, and could mature into a very good player....still lacks judgement though. Mvovo likewise was at fault in Strauss' try.
Keegan Daniel shows again he has vision and smarts. Ashley Johnson was good as well especially with that high ball take. Van Zyl made some amazing ball pick ups off the ground from lineout ball.
The scrums were interesting WP Nel got the Beast on one collapse and scrummed through him once. That seemed to wake up the giant and his scrumming was a factor leading to the early hit by the Cheetahs and the subsequent last try.
Bosman's pass which Mvovo botched was a thing of beauty.
I didn't enjoy Kaplan's reffing once again. There is no doubt he has an encyclopaedic knowledge of the game.....probably studies rule books at night....but he misses the action on the field. Before the commenators remarked on lazy running there were several other incidents.....none caught by Kaplan. And that miss on the JP early tackle on Johnson led to Sharks points. Pedantic but inaccurate, a recipe bound to frustrate.
