So fans get what they have been asking for...no Jannie. By all accounts that means Malherbe.....apparently Coenie is a long term project at tighthead, whatever that means. I'm fine with Coenie not being the man, the Bok scrum loses all its potency when he comes on.
But who is Malherbe. Why is he the Bok tighthead.....it's a bit of a mystery. This feels more like a process of elimination than a positive affirmation of a big new talent. And getting to debut against basically a Lions front row, in Cardiff with its brittle sun starved turf, feels a bit daunting.
This is where the test will be contested and possibly lost.
