Swiel was born in England (Taunton). Not sure if he has anything but permanent residence in SA or whether he has dual citizenship. He has a UK passport though.
I have written extensively about this guy about a year ago - and referred to the video now posted then. He is what I would call a ball sense whiz kid - and is a real flyhalf. I suspect under White he is going to develop rapidly and may end up as a Springbok one day. He is already m iles ahead of Morne Steyn - but then -everyone is.
Western Province U21 flyhalf Tim Swiel will be joining the Sharks.
SARugbymag.co.za understands that Swiel received a substantially bigger offer from the Sharks compared to what WP were prepared to pay him. He was also told that he would be part of the Durban-based franchise's Super Rugby plans for 2014.
Swiel was the top point-scorer in this year's U21 domestic competition with 180, which included five tries.
In some good news for Cape fans, Argentina lock Manuel Carizza will play for the Stormers in Super Rugby next year. The 29-year-old has earned 37 Test caps for the Pumas since 2004, including 11 Rugby Championship matches over the past two years. Coach Allister Coetzee said Carizza's arrival would make up for Andries Bekker's move to Japan.
The Stormers are reportedly chasing the signature of Pumas scrumhalf Nicolas Vergallo, who played for the Kings in Super Rugby this year. He has 33 Test caps but didn't play in the recent Rugby Championship.
