I say no - the man is talking KAK

He did and that is a fact.
Come now Mike you are sounding like a Christian apologist, if your going to make a statement and when its queried supply the link to back up your statement.
You saying "He did and that is a fact" doesn't prove anything.
I also would be surprised if anyone thought getting rid of Coetzee was a mistake. Even beeno wouldn't support that statement.
Another wild allegation or just a blatant lie. Typical Mike.
I've posted a lot of material over the past couple of weeks, probably three hundred posts. I don't recall ever saying anything along those lines. In fact, I know I never made that statement. My only comments on Coetzee have been the attacking stats between the two coaches and defence. If you think me saying Coetzee's use of the ball is better is proof that I think he should still be coach then you are dead wrong 'ol chap. My opinion of Coetzee is that he can't handle a head coaching position.
This isn't the first time Lügnerin has misquoted me, or lied about me. It certainly won't be the last.
Auge...is it fair to say that you don't think Rassie is much of an improvement on Coetzee and that Meyer should not have been fired, but kept on till now?
You never said so, but your responses in various discussions since Rassie's appointment give that impression.
Mike's OP is a bit over the top, but by defending SOME of Coetzee's achievements and criticizing SOME of Rassie's, you accidentally caused Oom Maaik to make a few assumptions too far...please clarify your stance....if you don't mind.
Rassie went back to basics, playing from our forwards, not our backs. Defence and kicking to launch our attacking game.
Coetzee went the opposite direction, playing from our backs and attacking on sight. It was unbalanced and unsuitable for most of our players. He was unfortunate to have to rebuild the team whilst implementing these ideals. As New Zealanders pointed out, the turning point for the Boks was the second Bok test of 2017. Look at the teams he was starting to put together, many of the same faces we see today. I don't believe we'd be successful with the Coetzee model, which is very similar to what the Lions were doing in Super rugby.
Rassie has built the Boks in the image of the Stormers. I don't like that interpretation of Bok rugby. It hasn't worked at super rugby level and it isn't working at test level. It's a better fit for the Boks, but not the direction we should be heading in.
Meyer's model is the better way. He is vastly superior to both Coetzee and Rassie and kept the Boks punching above their weight. With this current pool of players he'd no doubt be achieving more, especially with the vulnerable state of our SANZAR competitors. The post-Meyer era was exactly as I predicted.
Meyer was outright BS with no idea about backline play - he stated so himself - and his teams selection based on reputation with no regard to performance was a nightmare. The players he used to kick balls was never coached as to strategic kicking and their execution was extremely poor.
He kept the Springboks punching above their weight??????? With notorious losses such as losing all games in the 2015 RC and a record of one home win out of 11 tests played against the AB's - never an away win or even a draw against that team - whether at home and away.. Notorious losses against Australia like the Perth test in 2014. Then there was the Japan disaster of 2015 And his teams try scoring record against all teams was poor, .
No idea about rugby - now do you. .
"Meyer was outright BS with no idea about backline play - he stated so himself"
Why do you do this yourself?
"And his teams try scoring record against all teams was poor"
Meyer's record for attacking rugby was consistently the next best after the All Blacks. In 2013 - his second year - he bettered the All Blacks in almost every statistic. J-Raz's attacking output is beneath every year of the Meyer reign and that of Coetzee. Another Straeuli? Perhaps.
"The players he used to kick balls was never coached as to strategic kicking and their execution was extremely poor."
You've just critiqued the entire backbone of the J-Raz blueprint! That's what makes me laugh the most, J-Raz is everything you castigated Meyer for supposedly being. It couldn't be any funnier if you were dressed as Binky the Clown as you said those words.
Attacking rugby? When did that happen? Never seen because it rarely happened - when backline players scored tries it was through individual brilliance - not anything Meyers game plan produced.
The fact is under Meyer 90% of the kicking was totally aimless and poor with the result that there was no pressure on the recipient and balls were often used for counter-attacks. Under Erasmus the kicks is such that in 90% of the kicks the recipients are under pressure and the chances for counter-attacking is nullified.
Now for entertainment purposes - I need a good laugh so please describe Meyer's attacking game again. There was no real plan ever in evidence so have a flight of imagination again and entertain us all.
Under Erasmus the kicks is such that in 90% of the kicks the recipients are under pressure and the chances for counter-attacking is nullified.
Really?
Now you're really pushing it.
Kirchner was a good 15, but not a playmaker/dual 10 like Willie. He was robust and hit the line hard, an alternative to what Willie offered. My other call was Lambie at 15, the defensive fullback. Between them we were covered for any situation. Kirchner's weakness was the boot. Not very consistent. Sort of like early Monty.
The main cog in the wheel who was totally inept in backline play was Morne Steyn. With him ay flyhalf backline play was impossible.
In all tests in 2012 and 2018 - the Springboks playing basically the same teams -
* scored 22 tries in 2012; and
* scored 31 tries in 2018
In the RC in 2015 - again comparable to 2019 - the Springboks -
* scored 6 tries in 2015 in THREE TESTS; and
* scored 6 tries in 2019 in TWO TESTS - the third still to be played.
"Meyer's record for attacking rugby was consistently the next best after the All Blacks. " LMAO - total BS.
By the way stupid, tries reflect the quality of ATTA CKING PLAY - so learn something for a change.

No 10 post-Morné has had a better distribution game. The plastics never appreciated this as most people were enamoured with running over passing. Morné was a key part of the last successful Bok attack, and one of the best attacking super rugby sides of all time, the 2010 Bulls (minus the injured du Preez!).
How many times must I keep correcting you? You repeatedly harp on about 2012 and 2018, and I keep correcting your deceitful twaddle. If you want to compare those seasons, do it properly. Compare all of the data for each team in 2012 and then 2018, have the Boks been keeping pace with their peers? No, they haven't. No teams put up attacking numbers like 2018 in 2012, not even New Zealand. Defence stats were also much higher in 2012.
The fact is this, Meyer's Boks were #2 in the rankings and in attacking output. Show me where Rassie has achieved the same. Better yet, compare him to his predecessor's 2017 record. Come now Lügnerin, do not be shy, you brought the subject into conversation.
Morne having a distribution game - when did you dream that one up?. He had virtually NO distribution game at all. When did you dream that BS up?
Look at tries scored idiot - your other stats are not important. You can have line breaks galore - but if it doe not lead to tries - it is worthless, You are pretending that you can argue against facts by diverting attention away from the real situation. LMAO
I have looked at everything. In context. No team on earth was putting up those numbers in 2012. The game has changed. While you are at it, why not compare 2018 to the 1980 Lions tour? You can prove once and for all that Rassie is the best of the best!
Morné's distribution game? Look at the winning try he set up against Argentina in 2014 and putting Willie into space for the Boks first half try against Australia in 2014. What of him setting Habana free into space for the first Bok try against Wales in 2013? The three try scoring opportunities he set up within ten minutes against the USA - Kriel dropping two of them? There are many examples. In 2011, there was a nice weaving run, beating Beale, where he put JP away into space along the touchline. This was the away test of 2011's TN.
You looked a everything with a prejudiced approach and normally comes up with utter BS. It is very easy to actually assess the results of matches and performance of players and the team as a whole like I did. You have no way that the myths you spread about Meyer's game plan was worth anything - since there really was no such thing ever in evidence. And Morne Steyn LMAO
