Jordaan, Reinach, Marcy van der  Merwe, Coetzee and older pop gun Lappies? Nah....none of those guys are going to have a test career.

We should also discard pop guns Stepfonten and Coenie. We can drag this out or just correctly conclude these guys will never fulfill the need

It's terribly early for Pollard, but I think there is a good chance he may be our RWC flyhalf...so we have to get him on the bench. I'm also in favour of giving de Allende a chance...and keeping Hendricks. Perhaps it's time to give Lood a full go...Flip certainly disappointed today.

That about it...we don't have all the pieces yet.

Just pray that Willie Le Roux stays healthy....because without him the Boks are no more than average.

 #Mozart...

So how would youi suggest we move forward away from players like Matfield,Burger,M Steyn,B Habana and the likes.

They wont be around forever and not brining in new talent is putting the future of the team at jeopardy.

Lets just say,I am glad you only blog about rugby.

Forever Meyer has introduced at least 16 young  guns...most of whom are either injured or have failed. In spite of the views on this Board there is no obvious test talent that is being ignored. Just look at Serfontein today....an invisible man.

He was (Serfontein) invisible because he lacks big game experience and has to produce under immense presure. You can not expect miricales from a guy who only just over a year ago played junior top level rugby.Give the guy some slack.

What needs to happen is,we need to choose only younger players and loose like Australia did last year with McKenzie but the benefit will be we will gain experioence.Thats what made Jake such a good coach,he lost badly in the 3 years leading up to the world cup in 2007 but he got the combenations he wanted and now...thos combenations are old.

We need new ones.Say what you want none of these guys will playu for ever none.At one point we wikll see a Bok team with no Matfield,Du Preez and the likes.

Check your facts, we won the trinations in 04 in Jakes first year. We're within 2 minutes of repeating in 05. In 06 we had tremendous political  interference and injuries...but in 07 Jake brought back Os and Monty...grizzled vets. The model  you are describing is Rudolph Streuli...and it failed.

Yeah only two players of veteran age were brought in Os and Percy. The rest were all young. How many do we have now.WC's are won with both experience and youth. But this walking on 15 is lacking youth with only Willie,Hendricks and Serfontein the youth in the team.

Also please dont metion the useless Strauli,we dont want bad politics here.

Nope, WCs are not won with youth...read this quote from the Telegraph:

Studying the last four World Cup winners the RFU calculated average team ages of 27, 28, 27 and 28. The number of caps held by Australia (1999), England (2003), South Africa (2007) and New Zealand (2011) was 622, 638, 668 and 709 for Graham Henry’s All Blacks, the most experienced of the quartet.

I'd get rid of Serfontein, not sure what the hype is surrounding him, also I'd get rid of the average Flip Flop, there are better younger players around but I'd hang five with Pollard, another hope, everyone keeps putting it out there.Right now I think he needs time to develop and it might sound harsh but he failed to impress in the JWC final.

Meyer also needs to have a hard look at his loosie options, none of them played out of their skins and you can say that Alberts was the biggest non factor of the three.

Denny you are probably right that Pollard needs time...but truth to tell the cupboard is bare. He was quite impressive in his S15 matches.

Balls - this Welsh team with all their injured players like Halfpenny was beaten 26-3 by Ireland and struggled against the Italians in the 6 Nations.    The fact that the players was relatively acceptable last week and fell flat this weak indicates that the present team has serious deficiencies.
I must say I was rather surprised by the outcome last week, but in analyzing that game - it was clear that the real reason for the scoreline then could largely be attributed to a few players and especially Willie le Roux.    I expected that the Welsh would try and neutralize his impact - which they were quite successful in doing until near the very end.
We cannot go into the tests with that team.  At least 6 changes are essential if we want to have success.   The young "pop guns" as you cll it will be twice as successful as the old tired pop guns.  It happened last week - the tired old Bakkies played for 40 minutes and was invisible - De Jager came on and he was highly visible with strong ball carries and stronger tackles.
I would rather have stronger physical player - provided they contributes to the game.  Alberts rarely does - he did not do it last week and he did not do it this week while he was on the field of play.  Matfield is not a physical player - never was.   Serfontein is invisible - but what did Pietersen present - other than one run where he was in space, he was invisible as well and his tackling was poor.   Pietersen is not and never will be a no 13 center.
Incidentally the last time Favies played againsy Fourie in Wales - Fhe ran twice around Fourie like he was niot there.  What saved Fourie that day was the fact that Davies went off injured after about 10 minutes on the field of play - so he is not the answer either.
Incidentally - Labuschagne has consistently outplayed Alberts at Super 15 level and there is no reason why he should not outplay him on higher level.  At least he is an active player and not playing for only 15 minutes out of 80 like Alberts does.

Oh no....Not back to Lappies. Look this is a thread for young pop guns...not 25 year old chaps who can't get the balance between pork and pace right.

Moz you need to catch a wake up for you are starting to sound as lost as our coach........Meyer's geriatric jokes are starting to fall apart.......all but beaten at home by Wales bit for a penalty try.......the only players that need to be discarded are:

Fourie, Jean, Morne, du Preez, Pienaar, Jannie, Flip, Bakkies, Matfield, Streenkamp and Alberts.......for the simple reason that they are past it or in the case of Morne, never made it.

The inclusion of these old farts in our side is the obvious reason we are going to see our arses and if you cant see that, its because you started this warped journey of support for these old men and you will never admit you are wrong.

I look forward to your comments post Oz and NZ in a month time or so

Now wait a minute. Had Jean de Villiers not been injured, had Frans Steyn not pissed off and even had De Allende not been injured....... would Serfontein have had more big game time, or less?

More important. What about the explosion on this forum if we saw a fit JDV being replaced by Serfontein for the sake of bringing in young blood?

Everybody talks about Serfontein's lack of test experience. But he has played many S15 games, without anything memorable at that level . He is a decent player without the something special that makes for a test great.
