Better than Goosen.
Better than Goosen.

I have been a Swiel fan since his school days and this kid has something I have not seen in any SA flyhalf for many years. He has -
* massive ball sense - I call him the ball sense whiz kid - where he is better than Goosen and Lambie (who has ball sense bit to a smaller extent) and Morne Steyn ( ho has none of that quality);
* speed - with an eye for a gap where there seems to be none;
* the ability to create space for other players who can carry balls further - it is not the tries he scores himself that is all-important, it is the tries that he creates which is even of more importance;
* the ability to kick at goal and virtually never misses a kick; and
* the ability to take tackles without dieing with the ball; and
* the ability to defend excellently.
Whenever I see him playing I think how we miss at senior ranks a player that can really play the ball like he does. I have a feeling that Timo will be the Sharks flyhalf this year and I think that the following backline might be evolved by Jake White:-
15 Lambie
14 Mvovo
13 Whitehead
12 Jordaan
11 Marais
10 Swiel
9 Reinach
When the Chiefs still think what will happen, the tries under the post would already have been scored and converted. All the above has amazing speed and are sound defenders - they all are clever players.
Cannot find a place for the slow and dull Francois Steyn in that backline. When Swiel has created space for the backline - Steyn would kill the move by crashballing - or he would be nowhere in sight because of speed deficiency.
Swiel is a dead cert for my fanatasy team selection - that is for sure.

It will soon be 2014 and you are still hallucinating - Steyn is SLOW and he has NO STEP - fact of lif e.

Jordaan played opposite SBW at 12 in the Super 15 Final in 2012 and made one of the best backline breaks I have seen in years. That is no joke. If the Sharks wants another backline flop similar to 2013 - they should play Steyn at 12. He is slow and dull and that remains a problem.
Maybe - just maybe - White would get him to lose the 10kgs of lard he was carrying and up his speed and ball distribution. That could help - but I have a suspicion it will not happen and he would repeat his useless performances he put in since his return from France.

Your memory is slipping - Jordaan played at 12 in the Super 15 final in 2012.
So Francois Steyn is physical enough producing zero at center - where his performances over the last two years amounted to crashballing and poor defence? I think he may start in the pre-season matches at 12 - but if there is not a vast improvement in performances - he is bound to be replaced sooner rather than later.
These so-called physical players with poor defensive records make me sick. Steyn in one game in Super 15 this year (the Brumbies game to be specific) missed more tackles than Jordaan did in all the games he played in. Matter of fact his tackling record of 6% missed tackles is three times better than Engelbrecht's 18% and four times better than Steyn's 24%.
White also recruited Swiel with the promise that he would get playing time at the Sharks.
I think White will work out which players is worth it and he will not use non-performers purely based on reputation.

I know about that article and also know that afterwards White said he promised Swiel game time. Competition would be a good thing for both I think.
I watched the top games in Super 15 during repeat broadcasts and if there was one outright lie peddled on this site was how good Morne Steyn was and how poorly Lambie performed in Super 15 this year. Looking at the games again I think that it was very biased contributions made by the Morne Steyn supporters.
Am no at all surprised that Stade Francais did not fall for the hype and uses Morne as a bench player.

Let me remind you how really ignorant and useless you are. This is a thread about Swiel - or can't you read - doos? Missed out on the statement White made about Swiel and referred only to an earlier one about Lambie. What a farce.
However as per normal you are talking balls - you useless bugger - I am avoiding anything. I just don't debate rubbish with you since you are the most ignorant twit on this site. You went two years go two years back to try and prove how good the English cricket side is. They were disgraced in India in the shorter versions of the game - but since 2012 they have been slipping in the ratings and they are going further down because of the team of geriatrics they have,
Perhaps the useless twits should come and do some recruiting in SA again. No shut up and stop being obnoxious.

I think Swiel holds dual citizenship. He was borne in England - but his mother is apparently South African and they have lived in Cape Town most of his life. He did not want to ruin his potential prospects to play for England by playing in the JWC - but I think his preference is to stay in SA.
