To twit or not to twit

 All Blacks flanker Liam Messam has hit back at South African fans after a barrage of misdirected abuse following Saturday's test against the Springboks at Eden Park suddenly got personal.

'I can take all the s+*| coming my way, but there's no need to bring my son into this no need for that #haveagoodday' Messam tweeted late last night.

Some Springbok fans have oddly targeted the blindside for his part in the controversial sending off of hooker Bismarck du Plessis during the All Blacks' 29-15 win.

Messam reeled away after being elbowed in the throat as he went to tackle du Plessis, an incident that led to the hooker's second yellow card and subsequent automatic red card.

South African fans were furious at French referee Romain Poite for awarding the first yellow card, for a legal tackle on first five eighth Dan Carter, and many also felt the second was unwarranted.

Messam was quick to try and deflate the situation after the match, but his tweet appears to have been received the wrong way by some South African supporters.

'Thanks for the hate coming out of SA, it is what it is, Lesson learnt tackle low.' Messam tweeted on Saturday night.

The message was apparently displayed on South African television, sparking a flurry of criticism and Messam later deleted the post from his Twitter account.

Reader Shaun Neveling's post on South Africa news site sport24 summed up the over the top reaction of some fans.

'Yeah, do not want to be in Messam's shoes come Ellis Park. Crowd is going to tear him apart.'

Messam had a second go at playing peace-maker via twitter last night posting: 'Dear SA supporters I understand your frustrations and I agree that the big man was hard done by, he's a awesome player and one of the best.'

It was followed shortly later by the understandable request to leave his son out of it.

The All Blacks play the Springboks in Johannesburg on October 5.

As the Brit prime minister said , ' too many twits make a twat '.

 I see some English Football teams want to ban their players from using Twitter altogether.

They prefer to have public written statements that are drafted or/and approved by Public Relations media experts, or have the team captain do the public speaking. 

Look what happened recently with the Israel Fagg Twitter storm, and then before this the Australian female athelite that called the Springbok fags- at the time apparently she lost her sponser/s. Not sure how she recovered after that. I think she was the girl friend of one of the Quade Cooper, ane he later broke into her apartment. 

With Twitter it is also too easy for every Tom Dick and Harry to launch personal attacks on famous people, who as human beings can be prone to lose their tempers, and say something that can be interpreted outside of context and later they regret.

Frankly I was surprised Messam tweeted given the nature of the beast! I thought that was abit naive on his part!
