Ek, HTS Drostdy is in Worcester in the Boland and has been hanging around in the bottom half of the top 20 rugby schools for the last couple of years now. Wiaan Liebenberg who captained the baby Boks last year went there. He is also with the Bools now. Like you rightly point out, Gim, Boishaai and Paul Roos are actually Boland Schools, but players are selected for WP.

So 4 of the top 20 are from Boland. Must be something in the water, I hear all the farmers in the area dilute the water with KWV brandy to make it potable!

Thanks Draad, Drostdy Updated. Hehe, KWV in the water you say:)

To me the Irony is that there is one school from the Sharks in the top 20. How on earth is that possible? The sharks are contenders at Craven week.

There are 2 schools from the Eastern Cape in the top 20. which bodes well for the region if they can retain those players.

One School from the Pumas region and one from SWD also spells good news for those smaller unions.

But yes Boland seems to be the kings of small unions, although realistically those big schools in the Boland mostly play for WP colours.

I wonder what happened to Oakdale Agriculturakl School near Riversdale.  It used to be known as a sport school and produced quite a number of top players -  mongst them Johann Muller, Meyer Bosman and the Wannenberg brothers.   That purely from memory - there were many others as well.

Mike i think with those platteland schools it will vary alot. some years they will be up there, and other years they might not have the clout.

A good example is outeniqua in George (ok George is technically not platteland but you get the idea) Most years they are alot lower down the order. They must have a really god team this year though. ----It is still early days though so lets wait and see. But the point i am trying to make is that next year you might see oakdale up there again, who knows.

Sorry for the double post guys but I just thought i could add this for Mike:

Mike have alook at number 11 on the SA Schools under 15 Rankings. Might be an indication that Oakdale will feature again in the top 20 under 19's  in say two years time..., it is still early in the year though so there will be a lot of changes as the year progresses.
