I've been thinking about this for a week now. How cool would it be to put together a series between the very best from both tournaments? The very best players around.

Just an example (names do not necessarily reflect who's the best for every position, it's more a case of thinking about an entertaining game):

1) Coenie Oosthuizen

2) Bismarck du Plessis

3) Juan Figallo

4) Eben Etzebeth

5) Patricio Albacete

6) Juan Martín Fernandez Lobbe

7) Richie McCaw

8) Kieran Read

9) Will Genia

10) Dan Carter

11) Bryan Habana

12) Sonny Bill Williams

13) Conrad Smith

14) Cory Jane

15) Israel Folau

16) Dane Coles / 17) Marcos Ayerza / 18) Ben Afeaki / 19) Sam Whitelock / 20) Duane Vermeulen / 21) Tawera Kerr-Barlow / 22) Aaron Cruden / 23) Juan Imhoff

...up against...

1) Alex Corbisiero

2) Rory Best

3) Dan Coles

4) Joe Launchbury

5) Yoann Maestri

6) Chris Robshaw

7) Thierry Dusautoir

8) Sergio Parisse

9) Danny Care

10) Jonathan Sexton

11) Leigh Halfpenny

12) Wesley Fofana

13) Manu Tuilagi

14) Vincent Clerc

15) Stuart Hogg

16) Tom Youngs / 17) Gethin Jenkins / 18) Martín Castrogiovanni / 19) Jim Hamilton / 20) Justin Tipuric / 21) Morgan Parra / 22) Freddie Burns / 23) George North

Cool, eh?

Cruz Nice teams - but there could be some arguments about some players in both sides. In the SH team I for instance would be unhappy with some players especially. For instance I am not sure about Conrad Smith at 12 - he really was not a house on fire in Super 15 - neither in the three tests against the French. Maybe like O'Driscoll he is nearing retirement age from international rugby. I would much rather see Rene Ranger at 13. I have problems with your bench as well. Would not select Cole ahead of Strauss or Moore - Cruden was very average this year in Super 15 and maybe Barrett would be better at fly half or even Cooper. The scrummies this year in Super 15 was very average - maybe Kerr-Barlow - but a case could be made out for four others as well. Insofar as the NH team is concerned - I am not a great fan of Corbisiero and Best - but for the rest could live with the forwards. It is the backline where I have a problem with, I would definitely play Halfpenny at 15 and North at 11 - Stuart Hogg is just not good enough to make the starting 15 or for that matter the bench. You would notice there is a lot of correspondence on fantasy rugby on the site. There are basically three competitions on the go at present - namely Super Rugby and the Lions Tour - but both are drawing to a close. The one competition is run by Foxsport and the other one is known as Test Rugby. The Championship series are the next big one coming up on both sites. Please read up about it and join up. Each of these has a number of leagues and most of the members on this site belongs to sarugby.com on Foxsport and Stupidzone on Test Rugby. With your keen interest in all players and in selections as per above - this is another way to pick squads on a weekly basis. Should not take more than 15 minutes of your time per competition each week - and you will probably beat us wholesale. I joined up for the first time this year and I can assure you it is very interesting and add a new dimension to study of player form. In Super 15 it is not necessarily to top internationals that is the best to follow - for instance the top loosie wthis year in all Super 15 teams was in fact Lappies Labuschagne of the Cheetahs - because of his massive work rate. Have fun

I hear there has been talk of a Combined Southern hemisphere team to take on the Lions, but seriously what chance would the Lions have? They can barely compete with the individual SH nations on their own.
