I can't think of a worse start for the Stormers, with two more tough matches to come....the Sharks away and the Chiefs at home. If the coaches were watching the same game I was, there are some early concerns:

1) Do you now drop Jantjies for the reliable Grant, or show some belief in your big pick!

2) What about the front row and particularly Kitshoff......they lost most scrums yesterday.

3) Was the  lineout throwing just an aberration. When Etzebeth joins Bekker the Stormers should have dominance in the lineouts....but not if the ball sails 3 feet over the jumpers.

4) The loosies were a one man, Vermeulen, band. Is Elstadt really a loosie and is Schalk fit to take over from Kolisi.

5)  De Allende has a real pace problem. He is certainly a big unit, but I think he is going to be carved up by the faster NZ teams. Hell he made Wynand look fast! The answer is obvious, slot Jean back in his better 12 position and bring in de Jongh.

6) Then we get to Taute. So it was a first game, like Jantjies. But his boot is really weak and he has no vision from the back. He was also taken down by the first tackler every time. I'd rather have Aplon or Pietersen back there.....with the strong van den Heever on the wing.

Coetzee has a slew of problems after only one game....with some obvious, but politically difficult solutions. It will be fascinating to see what direction he takes.

Mo when your not arguing your actually quite the thinker!

1. If you drop Elton you will kill all he confidence, also grant is a good kicker but boring player and doesn't really give th stormers an attack! UK would keep Elton in just to see if he can get the monkey off his back!

2. Kitschoff is young and was exposed as inexperienced I would have him as a sub but I don't know the depth of the stormers props ATM not looked into it!

3. Wait for eben! Bekker did week with a youngster beside him! Not a huge issue this one just some rust!

4. Kolsi had a shocker! I mean a very bad game and I didn't even see elstat!

5.i don't really see the problem with de Jong his game at super 15 is more than fine he ,might not be international standard but he is fine 13 for the stormers

PI don't really know my peaterson ddtnplay at 15 I think he is better than taste and he can always kick for Elton IMF he struggles!

Good summary - agree.  Onother problem I think is not getting the replacements like Joe P on the field in time. Jantjies is a serious liability on defense.

Moozart

I think here are some changes that I would like to see as well

  *    Jantjies has to go-  if Grant is not available the Stormers will have a problem.

  *     The rest of the backline can stay as it is.   De Jongh is absolutely useless - he in total scored two tries in Super 15 ove rthe last two years and NEVER EVER made a line break - gets tackled back all the time.   Anyway you are indeed talking crap - De Allende is very tall and longstriding - giving the impression that he is slow.  He played at WING for WP on CC level and scored a number of tries because of his speed,   Over 50 meters he will beat De Jongh by 10 meters.   If the Stoirmers gets rid of Jantjies and bring back  De Jongh Jantjies - they might as well acept that their backline will be dead as it was last year.  Please go and study De Jonghs stats before you come back with tripe.

*       Fourie must go to no 6 - Elstadt moved to lock - and Malherbe must start at prop.  Until Lieberberg returns m they must play Bezuidenhout as hooker.   Problem with Fourie is that hois line-out throwing has never been that accurate and i suspect he is not contributing what he should as a hooker in scrums. Steenkamp is weak at lock and should be replaced.

*       There was NOTHING wrong with Taute's display at full back - and as far as I am concened he did well enough to remain in the team

Mike so you really think Taute's display at fullback was ok? Or you picked him to be Bok fullback and you are embarrassed?

By the way your tirades against de Jongh in every string are becoming a bit redundant.

Mozart

Nice to call what I said about De Jongh redundent.    Just one thing -you always love to quote stats - especially when you want to criticize performance of players.   Why do you not want to believe the Stats on De Jongh then.  I quote them about four months ago in detail and you made some vague remarks and then ignored them in total.   The stats prove that he is bloody useless and any suggestions as to his inclusion in teams are based on prejudicce and not facts

I am still happy with Taute as Stormers full back and am not going to change my mind after some stock comments of yours.

Thanks for pointing out the typing error - I corrected it.  Finnish it is not - but your understanding of rugby performance is all Greek to me.  LOL
