Hansen will ensure discipline. I agree with the comment he made about McCaw's captaincy. 
McCaw "managed" refs pretty well and maybe part of that was the discipline of the AB, i.e. not being drawn into scuffles, etc. I do however remember many of the opposition players constantly going after McCaw off the ball, in the rucks & any other place they could get to him. He set the standard for not getting involved. 

 Rooinek - I saw the headlines and did not bother to read it.   There is only one of our members who takes what Snorre said seriously and recently quoted an article about his comments on site supporting all the drivel.   You can possibly guess who that member is.   A hint - he is the "genius"(?) who claims 90% of the role of a flyhalf is to kick balls.

The only way to beat the All Blacks is to put pressure on them at the breakdown, to allow bigger and slower forwards to dictate the game pattern. 
Get them to make most of the tackles and tire them out while pulling them into defending rucks.
Like the SpringBull 2009 team, or England a few years ago. 

I'm no fan of Divvey, but he white washed the AB's 3-zip in one year...and defeated the B&I Lions too. The 2009 Bok team was the best Bok team since...very long ago...he did something right, cause Dick, Gary, Victor and John Smith did nothing of note on the coahing side since, or even before that. Maybe he only speaks like an idiot on TV and the papers?

 Having read that, its stupid to focus on exploiting off the ball stuff to gain an advantage, it might backfire and have the opposite result., but it is equally stupid to ignore it completely too. He's got some sort of point, but something got lost in translation....again.

Yep, the most telling part of that article is the last line. He is unable to get a job in anything rugby related. Even schoolboy rugby can do better than him. Also, his success in 2009 was due to the player legacy left by Jake White, not due to his capability. 

Twakkie's only saving grace was that he was so utterly incompetent that the players had zero faith in him and senior players like John Smit and Victor Matfield effectively took on the role of coach which is why they managed some decent results against the Lions (by the skin of their teeth) and the All Blacks.

Pdivvy was another quota with a chip on his shoulder. 
Even SARU said at the time that rugby reasons were not the main factor in his selection.

There was a combination of factors involved.   The Bulls and Cheetahs franchises wanted to get rid of White and replace him with Meyer.   For that reason they combine with the Watson cabal and other politicos to oust White,
The scenario was typical - the enemy of my enemies is my friend.
The major other unions - WP, the Lions and Sharks - were opposed to the Meyer selection and seriously annoyed by the conduct of the Bulls and the Cheetahs - so when the vote was taken on the appointment of the new coach the Bulls and Cheetahs lost out by one vote, resulting in the appointment of De Villiers by a one vote majority.
I think the three Unions mentioned saw at the time that Meyer was an incompetent as well and voted against him.   Snorre was such a disaster Meyer was appointed and we saw how the team deteriorated between 2012 and 2015.   Sad really.

 In years to come we will identify 2012-2015 as the last time the Bok set up was truly capable of beating anyone and taking a the top 3 spot.

We've been down before and we've recovered. The Bokke will be back . . . probably sooner than we all think.

 
I don't recall the Boks ever being as far down the rankings as we currently are.

That is an all time low for us.

We've been beaten by the Japanese and the Italians in the last 2 years.

That too is something that I never expected to see ... EVER!!!!

 I agree CC. I am generally a positive person but I see no indication that there is any constructive thinking going into a problem that needs to be resolved at every level. I would fully support the restructuring of our whole rugby set up, sacrificing the next 4   years results for the good of the BOK. There are however no dynamic forward thinking stakeholders that have the a political free pass.
