Firstly the yellow against Willie. If you look at the angle of his hands, they were up ...pointed up. He made a genuine attempt to knock the ball up. Certainly it also prevented the pass, but was it any different to many other interception attempts. I think not...does the attempt have to be a certainy? Then to rule it wasn't a penalty try, because supposedly the cover could have gotten there, when the potential receiver was all on his own and a metre from the line...just compounded the farce.
Secondly the near try by Charl McLeod. Apart from the obvious non grounding....what about the Mvovo knock. It went back? Amazing. Mvovo dropped the ball at least two metres ahead of ahead of where he first touched it, without it ever being under control. Sure it eventually got slapped back as he wrestled with it....but only after it had gone much further forward.
Combine that with the Chiefs first try after the half, and we had the usual list of ref blunders.
