England's Premiership Team of the Year: 15 Willie le Roux (Wasps), 14 Vereniki Goneva (Newcastle Falcons), 13 Rob Horne (Northampton Saints), 12 Matt Toomua (Leicester Tigers), 11 Josh Adams (Worcester Warriors), 10 Danny Cipriani (Wasps), 9 Faf de Klerk (Sale Sharks), 8 Sam Simmonds (Exeter Chiefs), 7 Don Armand (Exeter Chiefs), 6 Jamie Gibson (Northampton Saints), 5 Ed Slater (Gloucester Rugby), 4 Calum Green (Newcastle Falcons), 3 John Afoa (Gloucester Rugby), 2 Luke Cowan-Dickie (Exeter Chiefs), 1 Ellis Genge (Leicester Tigers) With our uncertainties surrounding 15 and 9.....this seems like an obvious answer. I would have thought the Welsh test would be a good start, but I see Welsh players playing in England have been denied permission to play against the Boks because it's outside the international window. Perhaps this will throw a monkey in the wrench!

Agreed Mos

Willie is still our best high ball option for me. One of our only backs in a similar league to Izzie and Smith in acting as a kick deterrent.

As for Faf, he is way ahead of anyone else. Still the best 9 we have in terms getting the backs on the move. Add in that all valuable X factor and it's a done deal.

Of the two I'd say Faf has the least competition. There are some decent looking 9s appearing this year though.

For me we're set as far as the pack goes. 9 and 10 are sorted too. Not sure if we're making too much of a big deal of the 12 and 13 spots.

There are a few seasoned centres around and there is variety too.

15 goes to Gallant or Willie.

Wingers though? Nobody really kicking the door down.

What's your team look like?

Willie Leroux is a must at wing or fullback. We need his playmaking ability on the pitch.

Faff is an exceptional player, but goes off the boil. However, under the clear thinking Rassie, he may do better.  South Africa have the worst depth of scrumhalf in years. Some are not even Super Rugby standard.

However, let's not get too excited about these pub nominations.

Didn't Hougaard also win the same award? Only to get a Bok call-up, for Coetzee to label him as not a test standard specialist scrumhalf- after his bumbling at the base of the ruck.

On that note, Coetzee himself was a Bok scrumhalf for a mixed SA international team (during Apartheid). He also has around 20 years of coaching experience, only to learn what we all knew ages ago.  Hougaard is good in an open game on a hard fast pitch with quick ball, but terrible in everything else. He cant kick, nor can he do pivot passes at the ruck.
