I have two things I'd like to suggest. Firstly, why are all the folks here on the ruckers forum so afraid to comment on the articles on the home page? I think it is such a waste of a good thing. Also, people that visit the site for the first time will be more attracted to it if they see comments at the bottom of articles. The comments of others and the ability to comment is why I came back to this site after my first visit a long long time ago. I will from now onwards post much more regularly on the articles on the home page and I hope others follow my example. More folks chatting is good for everyone.

Secondly, instead of just the two sections in the ruckers forum, Rugby and cricket, can we not have a Rugby forum and a general sport forum? My logic is people can post anything of interest from any sport in the general sport forum. I am often at work and I log onto this site and leave it logged in all day, so it would be nice if people posted scores, information, updates results etc from various sports, Grand Prix, Soccer, Tennis, Cricket, Boxing etc etc, to just have a mass of info in one place. I know this is a rugby site, and rugby is my favourite sport, but it would be nice just to get updates on other sports from around the world.

Your thoughts???

The Los Angeles Kings won the Stanley Cup last night. They beat the New Jersey Devils 4-2 in the best of seven series.

Have to agree with you on both counts. A general sports section at this point in time will suffice and yes lets get some comments going on the front page and invite the guys to the forum.

Canned rugby are you talking ice hockey as Ihave never heard of the twits you are talking about.

I also have to say Jeb Sinclair was a big disappointment. Surely you have better players than that?

Yes, hockey is what I'm talking about. How do you know someone is NOT Canadian? They call it ICE hockey.

Anyway, I thought Sinclair had his moments, but overall yes, it wasn't exactly like he made a lasting impression. I thought at times he looked confused. You could chalk that up to being thrown into the fire, but as a pro, he needed to familiarize himself much better then he did. I think he still needs to grow as a pro rugby player a little bit.

I would say we have two loose forwards who are better then him. Adam Kleeburger would have been much better. He is off right now after having shoulder surgery though. Aaron Carpenter(our Captain) would have probably fit in better as well.  We have a few backs, one who is born in SA, who are very talented as well. So no, Jeb Sinclair is not our best product. He is a good product, but not our best.

Remember, you can't compare our rugby players to yours. It's Apples and oranges. You can't compare Sinclair to spies, Vermuelen, or Koster. I don't think Coetzee was expecting that ether. I think he got what he needed from Sinclair. Tackles, and he filled the spot for four games and they won 3 of them.

Osama when I first started chatting here way back when,  there were 20,30,50,100 comments under an article about a Springbok game or player ratings etc. The thing is, newbies to the site don't know about the ruckers forum and what it is about unless they ar very familiar with the site. If people were commenting on the home page articles, they'd be there for everyone to see as soon as they logged in. The more chatters the better for all of us.

Bluebok I also don't think the Ruckers Forum has enough visual prominence on the home page. I think it should be  emphasied a bit more. I mean even on the articles- each reply box could have a fixed comment saying say join us on the Ruckers Forum (See tab top right hand side) The Ruckers Forum tab could be highlighted in some way. These are easy changes but would help increase traffic.

Anyhow wonderful to see the board growing and becoming a fantastic home for rugby lovers s othanks to ED and all the folks.  Little doubt this website on its way to being the best SA rugby website and hopefully eventually sports lovers website in South Afric and then we take on the world and begin to influence rugby policy and debate. We need a vision oaks a vision I say!!

Huge potential here if marketed correctly and we are making strides. I think we now have a core of really good posters and one particualry shining light! Hehehehehehhe - no sapster its NOT you.

Canned rugby Jeb did a job for us, showed that Canadian grit but was out of his depth. It was just that having played in the UK, being told he was one Canada's best and seeing he weihed in at 110 kg I expected, perhaps unfairly a bit more. However he also looked slow and frankly I cant see him making it at Super 15 level.

@Beeno

That's the thing though, Beeno. The depth as a player isn't there. You take any Canadian player and put him on the Stormers Squad and he is automatically going to be a half step to a full step behind everyone, which makes the player look even worse. Put him on the London Irish, and he can keep up most of the time and look relevant. Put him on Team Canada and he looks like one of our best. It's just the way it is. Super rugby is the best rugby league in the world for a reason.

I do believe if Jebb was there from the Start of the season he would have been much better, but under the circumstances In his four games I would give him a C rating. He had a few moments, but a satisfactory job......done.

@bluebok,

2 great suggestions.

i use to check up on the articles and blog the occasional comment, but i noticed that hardly anyone did. then i checked the forums randomly not expecting anyone to be here, and lo an behold more saffa rugby blogs then one could handle,,,,oh and the odd cricket yawwwwwwwwwwwwwwn post.
maybe they could put up a pop up window of some sort on the main page where people can see the last 5 articles posted by bloggers, pretty much the top 5 lines on the general page.

also the idea of a seperate forum for all sports, maybe even others is a great idea.
there are plenty of non rugby and cricket topics i would like to chat about.
was manny paquiao ripped off???
who will win state of origin 3???
can the magpies win the AFL???
in the naruto manga, who is tobi???
how awesome is game of thrones season 2???
so how about it webmasters???
