A debatable penalty try is given against the Stompies . . . this could get ugly! Get ready for some high-pitched shrieking and lots of tearful blubbering!
Uh-oh . . .
rooitit I havent watched the game as yet but if you think it was debateable it must have been a shocker. Who was the ref? What happened
TMO's expanded powers this year have proven problematic and numerous debatable calls when the evidence hasn't been there. Go back to how it used to be - try or no try, thats it. Far too many referrals during the game.
Players need to live with the decision of the on-field ref, its part of the game.
Surely that was a red card offense by Bezuidenhout?
So you didn't watch the game, Baboon-ou? Well, that would explain why we haven't been subjected to all the bleating and squealing I predicted.
As for the debatable penalty try, I only saw it once on a smallish screen so I don't really have an opinion on whether there was a knock-on before the incident or not, (as claimed by some) but what is not debatable is that Martin Bezuidenhout held Nick Phipps back and prevented him from scoring a try.
Whatever else, the Hapless Stompies have become the first SA team ever to lose to the Rebels. How embarrassing!
thanks rooitwit but even if you had watched it on a big screen repeatedly I would need to check up given your sentiments towards the Stormers.
Lol @ poi e. "justice 4 armbands". Sheesh I wouldn't put it past them after that Bokke/Bakkies debacle. One of the more cringeworthy public displays of poor sportsmanship by a national team EVER. I still can't believe they did it. Shame!
Should've smashed the ref Bweeno.
Let the Kiwis show you how it's done.
Firstly line the little yarpy up then oops terribly sorry mate LOLZA
i have no problem with that penalty try, martin bezuidenhoothoot was holding back phibbs for about two seconds, giving habana and co ample opportunity to get to the ball ahead of phibbs.
had phibbs not been held back, IMO he would have gotten to the ball first easy, the question marks is wethere he would have grounded it.
IMO given just how blatant bezuidenhouts tackle without the ball was, and the huge effect it had on phibbs the official had no choice but to award the try.
like oimatey siad, it should have been a red card easy. those types of tackles are my biggest pet peeves, i remember ruan pienaar doing many of those jersey grabbing tactics in tests against the All Blacks.
regarding thos justice 4 armbands, it was nice idea, a team unity sort of thing as that was one of the few cases where i thought bakkies was harshly done by (though u have no one to blame but thick pig shit for brains self for building that rep), what i thought was wrong was how hori those armbands were, i mean holy guacamole they were hori, o_O
i found it more comical then anything but all and a big meh, any emotion wasted on the incident and ive wasted ppls valuable or not so valuable even posting about it, LMAO, :oP
I haven't watched this game yet. But reading the reports, the issue seems to be a missed forward pass. I'm assuming this happened before the holding incident. If so, how could a try have been awarded?
Not a forward pass Moz but a possible knock-on. Higginbotham hacked the ball through and then tackled the Stormer who retrieved it. He probably knocked the ball forward out of the Stormer's hand but after several replays there was no conclusive evidence that he actually hit the ball and not just his arm thereby dislodging the ball.
The Rebels player following up would've definitely won the race to the ball had he not been held, hence the penalty try.
Another TMO contentious decision. You might remember Anscombe having his 4th try disallowed at the same ground a few weeks back when Osborne was ruled to have knocked the ball on when the evidence was also inconclusive.
Correct, Moola. That is how it happened and what was considered by the TMO in this case.
I think there is almost zero doubt the ball was dislodged forward by Higginbottom's hand .....it popped out. There is , however, considerable doubt that even without the tug, the Rebels would have scored. A certain try....no way.
Open both eyes Moz! Rebels player was held back for several metres and then had to get going again.
As it was he nearly made it there first anyway so there's no way he would have been beaten to the ball had he not been hindered by the cheating Stormer!
Actually I looked at it with both eyes in slow motion, maybe 10 times. The first point I'd make is the Aussie commentator said he wasn't sure he would have made it ahead of Habana. Secondly he was retarded for what, two strides, and beaten by one. To me that says its more likely everybody would have arrived at the ball at the same time. But either way he would have had to make the touch first time. It wasn't without doubt.
The real point though, is it should have been a Stormers scrum feed.
Guys lets be honest....
The reffing in 2013 has been the worst since i can rememeber.
How shocking was the TMO during the Cheetahs / Reds game??
Disaster!!
