It really was a pity that the three trial games was not on TV for the general public to become aware of the situation as to team performances - but from the match report it is evident that the Under 20's had an easy win in the game against the Ikeys. I predicted a win in this case - but the margin of victory was considerably more than I expected.
I think the final team squad seletion would have been narrowed down considerably and will probably be narrowed down considerably. I think it would basically allow for some backline positions in particular. I think the following are prime candidates:--
Full backs - Swiel and Kolbe
Wings - Lewis
Centers - Serfontein, Swanepoel and Fisher
Flyhalfs - Pollard and Du Preez.
It seems as if Theron : is married to the idea of having Ori as captain - but we do not have enough info to really evaluate forward selections.
Could be a very good squad that ultimately emerge and would be serious contenders for the final of the competition.
By the way for foreign members who may not know Ikeys is the University of Cape Town Rugby team.
