There is a summary of the game on the home page - did you see that one?   They won by a mile - but it must be borne in mind that The UWC team is in fact one of the weaker University teams in SA.   The other games will be much harder.

You were upset about the team selection - but it is clear that a large number of changes to the team were effected during the game and I see that Jagues Du Plessis (2) and Tyler Fisher scored tries.

I was surprised about the presence of Swiel - he was given as having converted a penalty - so he was not at Hermanus as expected and must have been released  to play in this game as well.

Lets wait and see how things panned out in the other - stronger - University games.

Yes the side they are playing next beat this side 83-0 or something. The UWC must be a useless side.

Good to see that Dries Swanepoel played as he missed most of last season through injury. He was Serfonteins Grey Bloem and SA Schools centre partner and captain. They say he is as good as Serfontein and also snapped up by the Bulls

By the way you know who is in charge of UCW Rugby?  None other than the well-known De Villiers - so what else don you expect from that team?

I think Maties will be a hard nut to crack for the Under 20's and Ikeys less so.   Some of the Ikey better players of last year (like De Allende) will not be available for the Ikeys this year - since they will play for the Stormers and WP and will not be released from the squad to play in the Varsity Cup and games like the Under 20 trials.   Maties have  virtually unlimited playing resources and will always be super-competitive.

The SA Under-20s will meet UWC on 18 January, Maties on 23 January and UCT on 26 January. The friendlies will be played in Stellenbosch and Cape Town.

Yes it should be a better test for the team as a unit. But I didn't see the game so I won't know what the baby boks got out of this. He should be testing combinations at this stage, seeing which players click well etc...

So we could either see a whole different team play against Maties

or we could just see the odd change here and there.

Depending on where the coach's thinking id at this stage. So let's wait and see what he does, We might ge an idea from that as to who he thinks will be his backbone etc...
