I have a feeling that the Under 20 team will not get past the Group stage of the Under 20 WC tournament.   Last year was bad - the above looks a lo t worse.

 These teams are by design short lived and few of their players actually are going to be called for the higher level.

Games are also played at a level a few dominant players supported by a proper organization revolving around them are enough to secure wins.

Winnings and losses are very relative. No matter win or loss, the most important is the way the team plays, that might give an insight at potential performances once in the senior squad.

Better to lose with a team that plays a similar way to the senior squad, this gives a solid platform to assess players and prepare for their introduction rather to win with a team that would show case a few players.

Of course, neither of these options are expected from SA, certainly not the option of showing a team with sensible collective play.

That's very deep Trad..... very deep


So, to summarise what you say here


Rather lose all the games, as long as the team are learning to play the same style of rugby to the senior squad (Who are obviously leading the way in this department and are doing fantastic), than win any games with a team that may just expose players that have the talent to play in the big league.


That makes perfect sense

 The summary is not correct.

SA squads are unable of sensible collective play, there is no collective idea behind it all.

It means two things for SA: U20 do not need to put a special effort in anything collective to emulate the senior squad.
If by any hap, the SA U 20 win , the performance will bear no fruit in the senior squad as the performance level wont be carried out at higher levels once in the senior squad.

The remark relates to teams able of feature collective play. For them, it is better that their young squads do not focus on winning but playing their best the same way as the senior squad does.
