So they announced the URC fixtures today.

It looks like the SA teams will have to travel less but for longer. I'm still not convinced that this the right planning as we are still waiting for the announcement of the European cup fixtures.

  1. So there will be 2 tours - 1st is in November for 4 weeks, the 2nd will be 2 weeks in Feb (Should have gone for 3 weeks + 3 Weeks, 4 weeks is a long slog away from home, but at least it is easy to travel around Europe. Like traveling between Jo Burg and Cape Town, teams can find a decent base to travel from and stay in home place and train)
  2. Last game is played until June. Interesting to figure out when the season will end when the test matches start.

Here is a fixture list that I put together. I'm still confused how the Eurocup will operate next season. They have gone back to the pool format, but each pool now has 6 teams in them. So not sure how games will be player. Traditional they use to be 4 teams per pool, quarter final, semi final and final. Will have to update once we know the fixtures, but might also be worth to note whether the South African teams should even bother using their front line players or just use the Heineken to develop you talent or curry cup players given the insane travelling on budge airline via some Middle Eastern country, stuck in economy for 36 hours

I also think that the December rugby is really dumb, especially over Christmas and new years.

SA teams should just take a break, and pick up the derby matches during the 6 nations.

And if we use the European cup as a development comp, our front line players could get a nice long mid season break

So with the Champions Cup format there is 6 teams in a group but only 4 matches total in the groups.

Each group will have 2 URC teams in them but they will not play each other. So Stormers will not have to play Leinster and the Bulls will not be playing Connacht.

There is no home and away legs between teams . Just 4 games with 2 home matches and 2 away matches. Who the teams are playing home and away has yet to be determined. Top 4 in each group goes through to the last 16.
