The Eagles will go into Pool C with England, Argentina, France and Oceanic 2, with Canada needing to find an alternate route to the tournament.
The first game in Hamilton was drawn 28-28 but USA were too good on their home patch as they ran in eight tries in front of their own supporters.
USA led 19-9 at the interval thanks to three tries, scored by Cam Dolan (2) and Nate Brakeley, with fly-half AJ MacGinty kicking four points.
In reply the visitors, who were missing DTH van der Merwe and Taylor Paris due to injury, could only muster three Gordon McRorie penalties.
The Eagles started well with MacGinty’s break on halfway leading to Dolan going over for an unconverted score on 10 minutes before the number eight crossed again four minutes later when he showed good pace to dive over on the left wing. This time MacGinty landed the kick for 12-0.
After McRorie got Canada on the board with a penalty they leaked a third try on 20 minutes as Dolan turned provider in setting up Brakeley.
But the Canada scrum-half would add two further penalties before the break, with Tony Lamborn’s card for side entry sandwiched in between.
Canada needed to strike first in the second-half and did just that when Dan Moor’s break was finished by Admir Cejvanovic to make it 19-16.
But crucially USA responded in the 51st minute to take the wind out of Canada’s sails, with replacement Joe Taufete’e crossing from a maul.
Tyler Ardron’s yellow card for bringing down a maul lamented Canada’s woes soon after and it didn’t take long for the Eagles to barge over once more, replacement Taufete’e again the player at the back of the driving maul and with MacGinty’s extras the Eagles were 33-16 ahead.
Nate Augspurger then finished off a lovely move that started on USA’s 22 before Dino Waldren drove over and suddenly it was a 47-16 buffer.
David Tameilau would claim the final score of the match for USA as they wrapped up the victory and a World Cup spot in style in San Diego.
