Van Zyl replaces Vermaak in the Springbok squad
He should have been first choice ahead of the average Vermaak and the out of form Hougaard, that said, my faith in Meyer had almost been restored until I read this...."Pierre is captain at the Bulls, and playing his best rugby currently..... Hahaha... what a laugh!
Disagree, I know exactly what Meyer is coming up with, he won't hesitate to make Spies Bok captain, he won't hesitate to pick an underperforming Bulls player ahead of a proven performer and for fair measure I don't know why everyone is so pleased wth his squad....give me a break, all his done is pick the players everyone has been talking about on every Rugby forum. The newbies he picked as a matter of fact picked themselves but it's his 22 one needs to keep an eye on, it's there you'll see dis Blou making an unjustified prescence.
Now now please Mike and Denny as respectable posters here on expects more reason and lets hot air.
Please get rid of this notion re Meyer picking bulle and being biased - its unworthy. Juandre is living on borrowed time and will be out once Du Toit is better. Hopefully spies too. Hougaard is living on promise lone but that will not last unless something dramatic happens. Maybe this new attacking emphasis will spark Hougie. Reinach also will be back so time is running out for Hougaard.
We all should know Meyer is on the right track so be patient while he weeds out the duds. I just wish he would see the light re Spies. I keep hoping he will create a new role fo Spies that could use Spies more as a roving number 8 linking with the backline which may work. Failing that Spies MUST GO.
Vermaak has had a great season and his call up was fully warranted. He had a credible test debut marred by his pack, and spies in particular, failing to protect him. What bad luck to be injured!
The Pienaar/ Morne combo is a bad one if Pienaar doesnt threaten attack wise - they are too pssive as a combo. With neither Pienaar or Morne playing a running game of note they pose little threat and the opposition defensive pressure moves onto the centers. Pienanar can run the ball very well but chooses to be no more than a link. I dont think he enoys the physical stuff.
Reinach and Van Zyl are the future - Groom was injured but also looked promising. I like Sarel and there is no better running scrummie in the country. This guy would add a real attacking dimension to the Boks.
Meyer have no choice to pick more Bulls as most of their players is fit and on form.
