At least I hope so -

15  Willie le Rox,  14 Cornal Hendriks,  13  Damian de Allende,  12 Jean de Villiers,  11 Bryan Habana,  10 Handre Pollard,  9  Cobus Reinach,  8  Duane Vermeulen,  7  Marcell  Coetzee, 6  Francois Louw,  5  Lood de Jager,  4  Eben Etzebeth,  Frans Malherbe, 2 Bismarck du Plessis, 1  Tendai Mtawarire

16  Adriaan Strauss,  17  Trevor Nyakane,  18  Jannie du Plessis,   19  Bakkies Botha,  20  Teboho Mohoje,  21 Francois Hougaard,  22  Patrick Lambie,  23 Jan Serfontein

The above would really be a top team.  I know it is unlikely that it would be the actual team - Meyer will bugger around with some has beens and never has been in the form of Morne Steyn, Ruan Pienaar, Willem Alberts, Jannie du Plessis and Bakkies Botha in the starting line -up and Steenkamp on the bench - thus weakening the team considerably.  .

I would rather hace a half-fit Etzebeth in the team than a fully-fit Bakkies Botha -  he will s till deliver more than the latter would.

One never wish a person to be injured - but Matfield is injured and will not be in the test next week.   Great advantage for the team that will at least have 5 tight 5 players and not 4 plus a passenger.

Good selection Mike. Concerns would be starting the underdone Eben and Malhebe. These two will get some Currie Cup time with malherbe coming off the bench. I would give Steen kamp a shot on the loosehead as he played well in the world cup game and Pumas may have a strong scrum.
If Jean is not ready to play we have Allende and jan. Allende is coming of an injury so will not be completely match fit. Meyer will have to call up a center. Go for Jordaan possibly or will we see JJ /Frans Steyn back? Sadie could be an option.

Fransie has thrown his toys out of the cot - a lucky break for the Springboks bearing in mind his record over the past two years - and he is not available for the first two tests. I do not think JJ will get back into the squad easily - Jordaan was called up when De Allende and De Villiers were not available in June and not JJ.

Malherbe was a liability even before the long lay off as we saw in that debacle at Cardiff Arms Park where Coenie was sent off for his transgressions. This guy will never survive NZ plotting.

We aren't talking OOm....I'm talking and you are trying to catch up. But it's your turn at bat, give me one game where Malherbe actually dominated his opponent. At best he holds his ground. At worst he is collapsing, putting down a hand or conced ing penalties as he did in Cardiff. Okay your turn duffus.

Wow given Meyer made that call I suppose I should take heed old man......fuck me you are stupid.

Mike, your side is the best of a poor squad, except I'd have Serfontein ahead of Jean at 12 and I'd have Hougaard at 9 ahead of Reinach  - but we know useless Meyers side will look anything but like this

Malherbe did a hell of a lot better in Super 15 this year than Jannie did - fact.  Go and count the number of scrumming penalties given away by those two players and you may see the light.  And he is better than Jannie in play outside of scrumming.  Just think - Jannie never scored a try in 148 Super 15 appearances - Malherbe scored 2 in his last game.
Malherbe conceded one penalty in that game you harp about - Jenkins his opponent conceded two.  So caught out as a liar again.   By the way Jannie scrummed against the self-same Jenkins and in two games gave away 4 penalties.
So who flopped against Jenkins - liar?

Just a pity that an old fart like you is stupid and ignorant enough to think that Meyer has it right.....roll on the RC when you will be fleeing for cover.

Poor old man who knows fuck about what constitutes a modern day winning team......Morne at 10, Matfield at 5.....bwhaahaaaa

 11 November 2011:

"Moz I see enough experience in the likes of JP, Frans, Pienaar, Spies, Brussouw, Schalk, Bekker, Beast, Jannie and Bismark to carry us forward. Mix these guys with the likes of Lambie, Mvovo, Sadie, Taute, Jantjies, Goosen, Hougaard, Coenie, Chiliboy, A.Strauss, Flip, Mostert, Louw, Vermeulen, Daniel, J.Strauss and co and we have something to work with going forward. Hanging on to the likes of Habana, Jean, Bakkies and co would be counter productive.

We have plenty of experience to draw on"

And then, to win us the 2012 TN (sic).

But we have lost du Preez, Matfield and Smit to retirement. So that leaves Habana, Fourie, Jean, Morne, Steenkamp, Smith and Bakkies from the old guard. You are no Fourie fan, Habana is no longer a striker and Jean is the wrong side of 30 and needs to move aside for Frans. Jean at 13 is a no, no - we need speed out wide. Taute will give us that as will Sadie. As for Morne, I have said enough about this average player.

We could retain Steenkamp, but we dont need to as the younger Beast is better. Bakkies is no longer the force he used to be and it would therefore make more sense investing in the younger Flip and Mostert. Smith no longer has the body to keep going and we have an abundance of young loosies to choose from.

Moz we have the core of the team in Lambie, JP, Frans, Hougaard, Beast, Bismark, Jannie, Bekker, Schalk, Brussouw, Alberts and Spies......that's 12 of our 15.......we have nothing to worry about......those 12 plus the likes of Mvovo, Taute, Sadie, Jantjies, Flip, Mostert, J.Strauss, Louw, Vermeulen and Daniel will win us TN games not lose them.....especially if we pick the best man for the job as coach.

I will admit that I was, at some stage, also a Pierre Spies fan but he has let me down big time.

And then the cherry on the cake on 25 Jan 2012:

Hell for a change we have a merit coach, coupled with an exciting crop of youngsters, mixed in with a good blend of experience.......what more could we ask for?

We have the experience in Habana, JP, Fourie, Frans, Morne, Pienaar, Beast, Bismark, Jannie, Bekker, Schalk, Smith, Brussouw and Spies - to a lesser extent Alberts, Hougaard, Louw, Mujati and Kankan.

We have some exciting young talent in Lambie, Ludik, Beyers, Mjekevu, JJ. Engelbrecht, v/d Heever, Mvovo, Mapoe, Sithole, Taute, Murray, Sadie, F.Venter, Watermeyer, Jan Serfontien, Dries Swanepoel, de Jongh, Jantjies, Goosen, Vermaak, Hoffman, Kockott, Greyling, Coenie, M.v/d Merwe, W.Kruger, Buys, R.de Klerk, F.Kirsten, A.Strauss, Chiliboy, Burden, D.Fourie, Flip, Mostert, Roodt, Etsebeth, J.du Plessis (Bok U20), Elstadt, Bullbring, JA Marais, Hargreaves, Bresler, J.Kruger, Daniel, Potgieter, J.Strauss, Vermeulen, A.Botha, Watson, CJ.Stander, Deysel, Kolisi, Koster, Stegman, v/d Walt, M.Coetzee, Rhodes

Hell if Meyer cant produce the goods with this crop then he might as well chuck in the towel and stick wit h the Bulls - mouth watering prospects here. A team of talented players given direction by a coach who knows what he is doing? Pinch yourselevs lads - its happening - we are about to have a merit coach unleashed on us

I think that Sadie really upped his game this season and I would have liked to see him at 13 in the June tests. The RC is however not the competition to blood a new centre pair of rookies and greenhorns. Hope Jean is fit for NZ and Oz or we are in deep trouble. I hope the Fransie issues will be sorted soon, as that's our only experienced backup at centre.

Lambie at 10 blindfolded would be better than the useless plodder Morne at 10 - only a conservative twat would select Morne at 10

JJ ahead of Fourie and JP anyday, both were complete flops at 13 - but knowing how fucking stupid you are, you will tell us that Fourie and JP were better.....yes good old Fourie with 13m gained in 3 Tests.....bwhaahaaaaa

You are great and you have great rugby knowledge (most of the time) and I agree with 90% of what you say. Foremost, i must mention that I agree on your take on Lambie 100%.

But brother, you have used the word "fuck" on 4 of your posts on this thread alone. Lets not even get in to your other posts gone by...

Do you battle to communicate properly? You elocute yourself really badly my man.

We are all allowed to have opinions brother. Why do you respond with a personal curse whenever someone does not like or agre e with an opinion of yours?

Yje Springboks finished third in 2012 and second last year - not second in both years.  Lets go through it then -
*   AB's won all their matches*   The Wallabies beat us away and won both Argentina marches%  The Springboks beat Australia and Argentina at home and drew against Argentina away
The Wallabies got 12 points plus bonus points
We got 10 points plus bonus point
How could we end up ahead of the Wallabies with that record?
That being the case - the situation is that because of local circumstances the Wallabies was weakened last year and that gave us the opportunity to beat them twice.   However, they have sorted out their problems and am looking a lot stronger this year.
Wea re in fact looking worse than last year wit a number of players on the skids - so our chances of beating them this year is near to zero.   There is no way that we can win anything with so many has beens and never has beens in the squad.
Hell - with Matfield, Botha, Alberts, Steenkamp, Morne and Pienaar around we struggled against Wales i- especially in the second test after a massive display by Le Roux.  The latter vbecame a Springbok bec ause Jirchner was injured and Meyer delayed the squad announcement to see how Kirchner did in a game before the June tests.   Kirchner was so poor - Meyer had no option but to select Le Roux.   To his credit he stuck with le Roux - but the latter was a massive improvement to what Meyer was used to previously.  That is what i call selection by accident = not by intent.
Our chances of beating the Wallabies depends on whether the terrible five misfits - as lister by me  plays or not.   If they do we can kiss our winning chance good bye.

Mike, the Boks will be fine. We only need a real 13 and a backup for Jannie.  Hopefully Frans and Damien can step up to the plate and solve that problem for Meyer. Frans is still a bit young for a real 3, but maybe he can do the job.

OK, let's give it one last go.

Etzebeth - injured
PSDT - injured
Goosen - injured
Lambie - injured
Pollard - at JRWC

I asked what the other alternatives were, at least three times (IIRC) , on one single thread and did not get a reply.

I would have liked to see Marnitz have a proper chance. We know what we have in Morne. ATM I see Lambie as backup for Willie and whoever is playing 10.
