I recently watched both videos and it struck me that most of he tries reflected in the two videos dealing with -
* the best 30 tries scored by the Springboks against New Zealand; and
* the 15 best tries scored by the Springboks against England
Very few of the 30 tries against New Zealand recorded in the first video under Meyer were scored by the pet hate players you never hear a good word from by Mozart, AO and Pakie, Mozart for years dealt with anything bar tries scored when evaluating Springbok players - neither did AO or whatever his previous names were.
The same applies to the video dealing with the tries scored against England.
Mozart was asked many times over whether scoring of tries was one of the norms counting in rugby from a positive perspective. He would go out on all-out attack against defensive lapses - but only if such lapses were by his pet hate players.
After the first 8 comparable tests played in 2012 and 2018 respectively the question of try scoring came up again. There were desperate efforts by AO to avoid discussion of the try scoring issue
The simple question really is - is tryscoring one of the norms when player performances are to be evaluated? I ask that question because neither of the three members really mentioned 2 of the three tries scored by the Springboks.
